Photo / Measurements

  • Did your center take a "before" photo of you and do measurements when you started? I thought in the initial consult the girl said they would do this, but when I went back in for food class they didn't. Maybe that's something they do later? I am just on day 4 of the yellow menu today - going back in this afternoon to weigh / get the blue menu (I think?). Maybe they will do it then - I will ask! What was your experience?

The day I paid, before preconditioning started, was when they weighed and measured me. You want them to do it right away so you can see your true change from the beginning. You're already past preconditioning and on another menu? I'd tell them to get all that done stat... otherwise you're losing out on seeing how much you are truly improving. Have you lost any weight so far from your home scale?
  • I would definately go back ASAP and request it. For myself the 1st 10 days were the biggest weight loss so you want to make sure you can see your TRUE success.

Yes, I agree with above. They need to do this NOW, not later. Hopefully they are more knowledgeable on other important steps. They should weigh you and take the tanita reading, in addition to measuring you and taking your BEFORE pic. --Joy2MeNu
  • Okay - I will mention it first thing today! Thanks everyone!

Diet gal - my home scale is a pound or two less than theirs, I think. But at home I weighed 183 this morning, so hoping for a pound or two more off at today's weigh-in!
  • To be honest, everyone says to go back and get it soon, so you can have a measure of your TRUE success---- the first week or so worth of weight that comes off is only water weight anyway (it can be significant, but water weight none-the-less)
It really ISNT your true weightloss.
The reason is that any weight you lose the first week or so (cuz its water) will immediately come back as soon as you stop eating at a deficit. Your "true" starting weight is your 1 week later weight, or day 10 weight. Anything AFTER that is truly fatloss....

On the other hand, it IS exciting to see the "big" number loss the first week or two.

But i cant re-iterate enough, that it WILL COME BACK. It will come back if you have a cheat weekend (thats where you hear about people who gain back 5-7 pounds of the weight they lost over one weekend of eating off plan-- it was just the initial water weight they lost coming back). and it will come back when you reach maintenance and start eating at your maintenance level.
  • keep in mind if you have them do a before photo, they'll make you sign a waiver that lets them use your name and photo for any marketing materials. I didn't want my name to come up in google for theirs, so i did my own.
  • Okay - we did measurements and no photo - I guess since I declined being used in their advertising. I was down 2lbs.
