Advice for a newbie?

  • I haven't really been in this forum as much as I should be since I signed up but I've been lurking around for about the last week or so and I figure that meeting new people that are working as hard as I am at this wouldn't be a bad thing.

I'm 25 I've managed to lose 45 pounds since the end of October. It's still hard for me to even believe it because no other attempt in my life has worked. I have about 70 more pounds to lose but for some reason the last two weeks have been even harder then the holidays were.

I'm not really going through anything right now that would cause me to lose motivation. Sorry to ramble but does anyone have any tips on how keep on the right track, and is this something everyone goes though?

    Thanks for reading :-)

  • I think this is pretty much something we all go though What I do is just make it a habit, so its just "time for the gym" rather than "time to decide whether to go to the gym". Same with eating, I make a plan of what im going to have roughly and stick to it as best I can. Then it doesnt take motivation. And of course, minimising temptation is also helpful, e.g. not buying things you know you shouldnt eat, so you cant eat them!
  • So true! Unfortunately I share a house with 3 other girls and I'm the one with the weight problem haha.

They are very supportive I just need to get my blinders back on stat!
  • I live at home with 3 other people and am the only one trying to lose weight so i see where you are coming from Pretty much the only way to cope with things they bring into the house which you really shouldnt have (i think its a bit unfair to ban people from bringing things into their own home, plus i dont like talking about my weight loss efforts irl really) is to just not start eating it. I find if i dont start, its easier than trying to stop before i've eaten the whole lot xD
  • Krystal - first of all let me say CONGRATS on the loss so far. What's your secret? LOL We all lose motivation. We all get tired of counting calories or measuring or exercising or whatever it is that we do, however, we don't really have that option if we want to continue to lose weight.

I find that posting on here keeps me accountable. We tend to "run away" when we aren't doing like we should. There are tons of awesome people around here and pretty much any question you could think to ask someone has already asked or has been through.

    Welcome!
