  • Okay - so between Samoa's and Thin Mints, I could gain back those pounds I lost last week in a matter of minutes! I'm pretty sure they put crack in them. Darn Girl Scouts, anyway!

I have several in my Sunday School class, and I always buy a little from each one. Well, yesterday little Lisa brought me her form. I got to thinking, "What if I just gave her the money?" I normally would buy 4 boxes which would be $14. So I wrote her a check and told her I didn't want the cookies!

Her Mom called me to be sure. I know, crazy to pass them up. Hooray! No GS Cookies for me!
  • That is great!! Luckily, no one comes to me to ask about buying them...I have, however, gone out and hunted down a few girl scouts!! Not this year though!!

    WTG on the will-power!!!
  • WTG! Thats a great victory for sure.

I haven't seen any Girl Scouts, yet... ThinMints are my favorite.

Ever thought who came up with that market strategy? I mean, really what a genius, yummy cookies from cute little girls in uniforms. Awwwww... lol
  • In the eight years I've been in NZ, my mom has sent me only 4 boxes of cookies: 2 Samoas and 2 Thin Mints. I'll happily take them; it's a treat I so rarely get that it's nice to be able to share good cookies with good friends over a cuppa.... then eat the rest when they're not here.
  • OH MY what kinda church do go to with crack laced cookies!!! LOL Just kidding!!!
Good for you to passing up the cookies!!! I have been so lucky to not know any girl scout selling kids. Until I realized my clothers aren't fitting anymore and need to do somethign about it then guess what..................yep someone I work with has a daughter selling them. First time I have been approached for ages!
  • Well it has to be said... "are they made with real girl scouts?"

I can put a box of the tagalongs down in about 3 minutes... I try not to get them but the DH (the "hub" as I like to call him) loves the thin mints, and I always give in and get some for me too!
  • You can also ask if your program participates in any of a number of "Gift of Caring" programs. These programs donate the cookies you purchase to be sent to troops overseas, or to local food distribution centers, or other worthy causes.
  • My daughter is a Girl Scout-and boy, this time of year is hard. Our troop always donates boxes to CPS or other organizations, soooo...just send your money to a girl scout and tell them to donate the boxes!
  • Donating Girl Scout cookies is a great idea! This will be another first for me.

First Girl Scout cookie season as a diabetic. I will definitely be giving cookies away.
  • Geez, I haven't bought Girl Scout cookies since they stopped making Scot Teas (I know they have a butter cookie, but it's not the same. The salty and sweet combination of scottish shortbread cookies were incredible).
  • Thankfully they freeze well.
My plan this year. Buy 4 boxes and only allow myself 1 as a special treat. One box for my man and 2 boxes for my kiddos. We can each have 1 cookie as a special "treat".
  • I can't freeze GS cookies...they're gone almost as soon as I open the box...Luckily, I have 2 cub scouts. They only sell popcorn (over for this school year) which I can usually buy and then say no to until DH and DS#1 and DS#2 eat it all. The GS's usually find me outside grocery stores...this year I will just have to say "no thanks" and move on inside. It's mean, I know, but I'll buy one box next year after I'm at my goal weight...this year it's about my health...and I FINALLY got DH on board with the diet...he needs to lose about 60 pounds, so I don't want to derail him either!
  • My boyfriends' niece got us big time, lol. She hit up me, him, and his mother for separate orders! I always saw them selling cookies outside wal-mart and stuff as a kid, but as an adult now I have never had a chance to buy them until yesterday. Thin Mints are my downfall.
  • I bought 6 boxes from my niece, yikes!! Fortunately for me though, I am not a huge fan of sweets. Give me sour & salty any day! We buy them every year and my husband usually ends up taking all but one box to work - and he usually eats that one box - I might have a cookie out of it, but that's about it. However, this year, I am very intrigued by the Thank You Berry Munch cookies - cranberry with white fudge chips - I hope they're not my downfall.
  • Way to go MP on the willpower!

I agree that MUST be laced with something! Those cookies are just pure evil. Thankfully, I only see them being sold outside of Wal-Mart and such which makes it easier for me to resist because I'm much more budget conciouse then.
