starting day 3

  • and i am feeling suprisingly good. had headaches last 2 nights but other than that its going surprisingly well. i've tried atkins in the past and not made it past the 1st day. i go back to work tommorrow and am hoping to be past any ill effects before then.
  • Great job!

Once you burn up those glycogen stores (which takes 2-3 days) and you go into fat-burning mode, you will feel better and better. The first few days can be challenging because you feel hungry while still in carb-burning mode while it burns up the glycogen stores and also, because alteration in fluid and electrolyte balance can initially give you things like leg cramps, etc.

But once things settle down after the first few days, it just gets easier and easier, IMO. But it's good to know this going in....or one might get discouraged and quit before the good part starts. On day 3, you are almost there, for sure.

What a relief to read about leg cramps - got those last night & haven't had them for almost 5 years ('round about the last time I did low carbs) - I took my mineral supplement shortly afterwards & it turns out that that's exactly what it needed

... anyways ... I started back to the basics on Saturday & have been doing really well (except for last night - hubby wanted to go out for fajitas & I had 3 tortillas - but I didn't gain any weight this morning so that's a good thing!)

    Cheers ladies!

  • am on my day three
I am right behind you guys. I am now on day three and feel great. Did this diet years ago, lost 40 lbs in two months and ended up gaining it back when I got pregnant with my youngest. I now feel it is time to get back on the ball (with a little motivation thank god!).

I have lost a pound a day so far and am hoping to keep that momentum going for as long as I can. I am going to do my best to stay in the induction phase for as long as absolutely possible. Last time I did it for two months so I hope I can do it again :-)

Good luck you guys... its nice to feel like I am not alone on this one.
  • hey MamaT! glad you joined us! your story sounds like mine although I did the diet after my daughter was born. I just gave it up cause I thought it was getting too hard ......but now I realize that being obese is much harder! Good luck to you!
  • Tomorrow is day 3 for me, I have been yo-yo dieting for about 9 years now. This past year the weight gain has been happening so fast I decided I better get serious and lose all of my weight instead of just the first 20 lbs. So far so good.
  • hey trcard....good luck!
  • Well the morning of day 3 and I lost 2 more lbs...so excited!
