1200 calorie diet....how long before weight loss?

  • I just started this diet this past Monday...while I know it may take a while before I see results...I'm just curious about YOUR progress.

I am not able to exercise too much...just walk about 15 minutes a few times a week. I know everybody has a different metabolism and some lose fast where others dont...but I thought it would be neat to know your progress and how long it took before you started to actually start losing weight at a consistent rate.

I refuse to get on the scale until I've followed my plan for at least two weeks so that I don't get discouraged!
  • Id like to know too!

I ussually starve at 1800-2200 cals and I thought no way could I go to a 1200 cal diet BUT I started back on fat smash this week and you dont technically count cals but I wanted to since Im getting a bbug this week so I counted yesterday and I only had 1110 calories all day! In two days Ive lost 3 pounds which this is my first 2 real days on the plan so its probably water but still. Last time I lost a pound a day on this plan. But Im extremely overweight and my calorie intake was not insane before since we were trying to eat healthier but it was still high. So, I think your right it depends on the person and everything.
  • I know this is the 30-somethings forum, but I wanted to reply!

I try to stick to 1200 a day and it works great for me, as long as I'm sure to spread my calories out through the day. If you're eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies, you can actually consume quite a bit of food within that 1200 calorie limit!

I also kind of enjoy the feeling of hunger, though, but I don't find that I'm ever starving...I'm just never full to the point of busting!
  • lookingformeagain....thats great that you have already lost weight! way to go!!!!!

its really been pretty easy for me so far....I feel like I am always eating! hopefully..it will show on the scales too
  • I usually stay between 1500-1800/day, but I exercise alot. If I go below 1500, I can't think straight and start getting headaches. I find that I go a couple of weeks with little bits of weight loss and then get a big drop and then start the pattern again. I find it's best just to hang in there and keep going...eventually your body has to follow your directions....
  • thanks AFchick I hope I will start losing...it just doesnt seem to happy fast enough for me!
  • Everyone is different. Eventually you will see how much you will loose at any given time.
