I am done having kids so now.....

  • Let the weight loss begin! Hi everyone. My name is Vanessa. So this is my second introduction. The first time was in January '08. I was so excited and motivated at that time but soon after my intro, I got pregnant or I might have already been pregnant. So my weight loss was put on hold. My son was born in October '08 and I got hit with the absolutely worst case of PPD. It was a nightmare and made me start to eat horribly. Fast food many times a week Anyway, I survived PPD and I have two beautiful children, an almost 4 year old girl and a 13 month old boy. Now it's time to lose all this weight. I have not changed my ticker yet. The one in my signature is old. I weight about 229.7 now. My long term goal is 165. I am tall so I think that will be a good weight for me. I hope to get to know a lot of you.
  • Welcome! I think a lot of it depends on your build. 165 on me at 5'10" looks fatter than it does on my 5'6" friend, because she naturally has a large frame and a TON of muscle (and I have a small frame and not much muscle). If you start getting to 165 and have a lot of fat on you, then don't feel bad lowering it if you like, but you could get there and look FABULOUS. It's not BMI but body composition that matters most. ^_^ Good luck on your journey!

  • Thank you both. I have a big frame so I think 165 will be a good weight but we will see when I get there if I need to lose more. Right now all I want is to lose 70 pounds.

    Sounds like you're back on track and ready to go - no looking back, just moving forward -the support you need is here - you can do this - and we'll all be here to cheer you on!

    Glad to have you back with us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help you choose the right ones for you and get through the ups and downs.

    There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

    I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

    I, too, am done having babies and am now trying to get more serious about my weight loss!! My youngest was also born in Oct of 08. We have 5 children and I'm having a hard time finding time to focus on me!!

    Sorry you had PPD. I had it after 2 of my sons were born and after back to back miscarriages. It is a very difficult thing to come through.
  • I also am done having babies. My 5th was born March of 07, and my oldest will be 20 on Sunday. AACK! I have a 2 year old and a soon to be "20 something"...that's kinda freaking me out.

    My hour or two at the gym is truly one of the few "me" times I get every day.

    Hi! Nice to meet you. PPD was absolutely the worst experience of my life. I feel so lucky that I survived because so many days I didn't think I would.

    Hi! Congratulations on your weight loss. With all those children it must be hard. My 13 month old by recomendation of his ped needs to gain weight so I am trying to feed his all this fattening food but he refuses most of it and I end up eating most of it.
