Funny gym signs

  • (I don't know what's gotten into me today -- two posts, when I've been AWOL for 4 months!)

My gym is a low-budget operation. The signs telling users the "do's" and "don't's" are no exception -- they are just 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper, laminated, with the rules listed in Times New Roman or some other run-of-the-mill font. In other words, something you could whip up at Kinkos in about 5 minutes, even if you don't happen to have access to a laminator.

This creates all sorts of opportunities for the gym's users, who are mostly students, to um, embellish the rules. This morning, somewhere in the midst of a set of front squats, I noticed that the signs by the powerlifting platforms now read as follows:

    "Rules:

NO dumbbells in the power cages
NO walking lunges (KW: this is a real rule, for some bizarre reason)
    NO biceps curls
    Gloves must match your purse
    ...
    "

If only the signs read "NO power curtsies," too, they'd be perfect!

We'll see how long they stay up.

Anyone else see signs of humor (so to speak) at your gym?

    Be strong,
    Kim
  • Over the door out of new(ish) lifting room at my gym is a painted on the wall sign stating "Don't be lazy, put away your weights" or something similar. However, since it opened early in the summer, on bout half the sign the letters have remained just outlined, not painted. Talk about lazy.
  • Quote: Gloves must match your purse
    ...
    hehe, that tickles me.

I think I like it because they managed to be funny without being crude or mean, kinda rare these days.
  • In the weights section we have a chalkboard which now reads (seasonally)

Please tidy up after your elves.

One of the guys is 6th in his section for Mr Universe (I don't really know what that means but am prepared to be impressed). Anyway, I don't think he's one of the elves in question!
  • The board now reads:

Please respect the gymn and your elves and put your weights away.

    We all do, of course.
  • WaterRat/Pat

We must workout at the same gym... In Palmer? I want to take a black marker and just finish filling in the letters!!!
  • Yes indeed we must. Have been swimming more the past couple of weeks, but I'll be back there after Christmas. Do you live in Palmer as well?
  • Swimming...aack...I'm too afraid to try on a bathing suit!

Yep, live outside of Palmer, in the butte. Been miserable driving conditions though...darn snow...
  • I hope you can read this.

"Plates... must never be left IN wall"
