How many carbs?

  • Hi Everyone,

    I am wondering if anyone can tell me how many carbs you are suppose to have a day when doing low carb. I am trying to do like NO CARBS....But that is not working. LOL

    I am 5'2" and weigh 107. I have already lost my weight but am maintaining, or trying to maintain, w/ low carbing. I really like the low carb dieting.

    But just curious if anyone here could tell me how many carbs you can have a day.

  • Hmmmm... on Atkins induction you can have 20 carbs...... then you increase from there by 5 for a week, then another 5 for a week, etc etc until you get to the level at which you maintain rather than lose. However, there are chickies on this board who are MUCH more knowledgealble than I am..... I'm sure they'll be along later.....

  • Well, since you're not trying to lose anymore, I wouldn't recommend induction. It's going to put you into ketosis and you'll lose for sure. Try to start around 50 carbs a day, if you notice you're gaining, cut it down by 5 grams for a week, then see what happens. I was able to eat around 80 or so a day back when I was in OWL, so you may be able to increase some too. This is a learning experience, so if you do have a gain, it will be a small one, and you will be able to lose it quickly. Hope this helps!
