Cooking Boca Burgers

  • hi, what's the best way to cook these? Thanks.
  • I cook mine on my george foreman.. they take about 3-4 minutes.
I love my grill - so worth the money
  • George Foreman Grill when I'm home or microwave at work.
  • Stupid question time........What is a boca burger? Does it taste like a real burger or something like it?

  • Boca burgers are frozen soy-based "burgers" with 1-2 points per patty. They are all burger-like rather than veggie-patty type things. One flavor (All-American Classic, I believe it is called) tastes pretty close to a burger. Other flavors (salsa, roasted vegetable, etc.) are more highly seasoned. They are quite good--the texture is excellent if you don't overcook them.

My favorite way to cook them is to poke a hole in the bag and microwave--not too long! I do 60 seconds on 70% power. They turn into a hockey puck if you cook them too long.
  • Has anyone tried cooking these on the stovetop? On the box it says its supposed to be the best method.
  • Yup, use a non-stick pan and on med-high heat just cook it til the outside is a bit crisp (you know what i mean) and it's heated through...

I find it easiest to thaw them a bit before you do them so you dont burn the sides before the middle's hot!
  • i cook them on the stovetop - spritz the little frying pan with PAM and cook over very low fire for a few minutes each side.
  • They definitely tast a lot better cooked in a pan than in the microwave. If you have the 8 minutes to spare, it's worth it.
We had the Santa Fe Gardenburgers for dinner the other night. They were yummy. I think I like the flame grilled Gardenburgers more than the Bocas.
  • Hi - have been lurking here. I am on WW. I have never seen Boca burgers in Canada, but I do use Yves Veggie Burgers which sound similar. I have cooked them on the stove top and on the BBQ. Really don't know how many points but should be low.

  • Bocas in Canada
    Hi Serenity,

The Superstore here in Nova Scotia sells Boca burgers. Sometimes they're in the health food section, sometimes in the regular freezers next to the President's Choice veggie burgers (which, in my humble opinion, are barfy). I like BB's better than the Yves ones, they taste more "real." I used to also love Morningstar spicey black bean burgers, but can't find them around anymore. It's annoying how these items seem to come and go, at least here in the hinterland. Anyway, check out your local Superstore. They might carry Boca burgers.
  • I'm in Ontario and I've also purchased these at Zehrs. I most definitely prefer them to Yves burgers!
  • on boca burgers
