    to the August exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!

    In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

    In 2007 the 300+ club exercised 205,352 minutes. Let’s break that record!

    To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as
    Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes

    We've made a great start and I'd love to see us hit 20K minutes again for August!!! What do you say chicks and roosters??

  • I am going to kick it up a bit and set my August goal at 1350 min!
  • Well, I think I'll set my goal for 1,300 mins for August, since I got that much this month thus far!
  • I'm jumping in here as a newbie, so hope I am doing this right.

    I am very unfit, so I'm not aiming to high this month. Going for 500 minutes for my first month - it's a start
  • This has been such a great motivator for me to stick with an exercise program --- and I have really been enjoying my improved ability to get out and enjoy hiking again. Thanks so much for running this thread each month, Heather!

    I am going to shoot for 2000 minutes again this month.

  • I'm in for 1,000 min. in Aug.

  • Since I was 10 mins short of 1,500 minutes this month, and going 495 minutes over my goal for this month, I think I'll shoot for 1,500 instead of 1,300. Get my butt in gear!
  • I will get through this month better about tracking my minutes, darnit! 1200 minute goal.
  • I missed out tracking last month so I will shoot for 1500 min! It's a lofty goal but I'm gonna sure try hard!

  • 45 minutes walking with a gym buddy today.

    Group Total: 110 + 45 = 155
  • 40 min on the bike

    Personal: 40/1500

    Group: 155+40=195
