Pointing with only the welcome book

  • Hi I am new to this site and just joined WW last Thursday. I have a question coming so bare with me LOL. It seems to be pretty difficult to point some foods like for instance a slice of party hero (went to a party Saturday) Now I ripped most of the bread out so I just had a shell but the meats are pretty thin on there and it is pretty hard to figure out if it is a slice of pepperoni, salami etc without completely ripping the sandwich apart (which I did). Even after I butchered it I could not honestly figure out how to point it. What do you guys do and do I need to buy a companion book (& make ww richer lol) or do I just need to practice more with the starter book? What do you all do when you got to a party or somewhere it is hard to point. Thanks

    Svolpe,

I had to LOL because I was the same way 8 weeks ago when I joined Weight Watchers. Stick with it because it is a wonderful program.

You can go to websites like dwlz.com (click on site map and then restaurants) and check out some sub restaurants (Subway, Quizno's, Blimpie). Then you can estimate how much you had. Sometimes you just have to guess, but I think you can come pretty close. I've had portions of a sub sandwich and have removed the cheese for less points!

I bought the Companion book because I liked the idea that it has point values for the things I buy in the grocery store each week. I think it's been invaluable in that respect.

    Happy losing!

  • Domina,

Thanks so much. I think I will go get the companion because the slide thing is an awesome tool but SOOOOO time consuming. I am working on pointing my light cookbooks right now LOL. Man that is a JOB!!

I weigh in on Friday and I am so hoping that I totally did not screw up with last nights steak binge!! I was actually considering throwing up but I don't want to start an eating disorder at 31 LOL. So today I have been extra good. I don't know if this is the right forum but I found these chicken sausages that are huge and only 1.5 points each!!!! I need to spread the word because a woman at my first WW meeting overheard me talking about how I love sausage and that it will be my weakness and she told me about them. I figured they would be crappy tasting but I had one for the first time today and OMG it was awesome! I put it on one slice of wheat bread (low cal) and had broccoli with it and my whole lunch was 2 points!!!!!!!! I found them at costco but they also have a website of www.cgfoods.com

It was a pain to pointing it though since it says 3oz is a serving but the sausage is more than three oz!! So I even over estimated a little, it is 1 point for 3 oz!! I wish companies would just figure one sausage is one serving instead of this way! It is so frustrating trying to break it down!!

Ok I babbled enough LOL! Congrats on your weight loss!!!

We all have days like you had. Just get back OP (On Program) and you'll be all right. Hmmm, I need to find those sausages. What is the name of them?

I don't know if I'm strange (probably so), but I actually treat the points system like a game. I consider it a challenge to find new things and meals that are low in points. It's fun being creative just like you did with your new "Stephanie's Sausage Sandwich!"

    Happy losing!!

  • Thanks It is like a mission sometimes lol. The longer I do it the worse I will get with it I am sure LOL. I am hoping that one day I will eat like a pig on 2 point stuff that I will be so sick of it by the end of the day LOL! The name of the sausage is honey garlic roasted chicken sausage distibuted by cgfoods.
