Sorry if this questions has been asked already, but can someone explain to me how building muscle influences metabolism? I've heard people say this to me through my life, but I've never quite understood it (keep in mind that I failed high school biology

)
I have crazy low metabolism (my friends can eat all-you-can-eat buffets without gaining a pound, while I'll balloon from eating a peanut :P) so obviously this is a very interesting subject for me.
