Breaking diet advice

  • I am going on a fieldtrip to a big city on Wednesday, problem is, I'm on phase 1. I'm on my 6th day of the detox and it would be the 8th day on the same day I have the fieldtrip. My friend (who has done a detox type diet for yoga class) suggested I break my diet for that day since they will be no way to keep going and just start again the next day. What do you guys think?

    By the way, I've lost 2 inches off of my hips and 2 inches off my waist.
  • I'd say to stick with the detox plan. Can't you bring your own food/snacks on the field trip? If you go to a restaurant you can order a salad and have them give you low-fat dressing on the side. I'm saying this b/c personally I know that it's easy for me to fall off the wagon after giving myself permission to cheat for one day. I've done this with other diets.

    agreed. i'd stick to it the best i could. i'm definitely one to fall off the wagon after letting go for just one meal...
  • I was in a similar situation when I was in Phase I.. I decided that I wouldn't count that day towards my detox, but I would make the best possible choices I could on that day.. I ate mostly vegetables and fruit, but I did have some chicken too.. I opted for white rice instead of other carbs (brown rice was not available).. and kept the portion sizes of the off stuff to a minimum.
  • Well I did break it, but tried not to make it toooo bad.

    I had a mixed green salad with goat cheese, apples and raspberry vinegrette. I had bread too though which was bad, but just a little. I added a day to my detox to make up for it.
