  • Hi Everybody!
I guess I'll introduce myself, my name is Lyndsay I live in Alaska. I was a pretty scrawny kid all my life when I suddenly became extremely agoraphobic when I was on an antidepressant I was prescribed in my freshmen year of high school. I gained a little over 50lbs in slightly less than 3mo and when I finally did decide I was ready to leave the house none of my clothes fit. What followed was a rather destructive bout of anorexia (no one should lose 50lbs in a month)

I did finally get my eating under control when I was 17 and maintained around 150 pounds for almost 2 years when I got pregnant and had my son at 19. After he was born it wasn't difficult to lose the weight.

I am now stressfully divorced and happily in a relationship with someone for well over a year now (hopefully you'll never know what I mean by that). Immediately following my separation, due to lack of income and a great deal of debt (that wasn't mine) my food budget went to my kid and I lost a great deal of muscle tone and screwed up my metabolism something fierce. So when I did finally start eating again I gained an unreasonable amount of weight from it.

I want to slim back down and tone up! And I've been hovering around this weight for just about a year now so it's time to bust though this plateau.

So you know, go team banana... rah rah!
  • Hello Bananas, my name is Ebonie. I have been battling with my weight since 'i was a teenager. I can say that for the last 4 months i have been on a regular exercise routine and am now trying to get my eating under control. I am trying to lose as much weight as I can because me and my husband are planning another baby (we have 2 that are 7 and 8) and i hope not to gain as much as i did with my other two pregnancies. I am planning to maintain an exercise routine throughout my pregnancy. WISH ME WELL!!!
  • Nice to meet you motiv8me and scandalous
My name is Angeline and the lowest weight I can remember being is 150- maybe 149 a day or two. I was about 165 when I got married and have jetted up to 185. I've been going strong for about a month and I'm down to 179 I hope theses numbers keeping going down!

What are you guys doing to lose? I'm going to the gym everyday- even if it's just for fifteen minutes and I'm going to try for 75 miles in March. I eat about 1400 calories a day and try to stay under that- which has been hard on the weekends

I can't wait to see all our weight loss! I think this challenge will be really great for me because it provides the accountability I SO need

    Go Bananas!
  • Hi Lyndsay, Ebonie, and Angeline! Nice to meet you - you all have such elegant names!

I'm Beth, and I'm trying to figure out how to be healthy with out focussing too much on the weight. I'm Canadian and trying to follow the food guide, which is a lot more fruits and veggies than I've ever eaten before! I'm also trying to not buy food at school, so I'm making all of my own food and discovering this novelty of "cooking". I've been tracking calories just to make sure that I'm not eating too many "other" foods, and I average about 2000kcal/d. I go to the gym about 3x/week, and am starting to set some pretty ambitious fitness goals! One reason I decided to make this change was a knee injury that kept me from being active: since I couldn't do much I just gave up on the healthy eating. I finally finished moping, and now am committed to doing everything I can to be healthy, regardless of weight.

I don't have a weight goal, but it's an interesting measure of how these lifestyle changes are affecting my body. I was aiming for a modest weight loss of 10lbs by April 1st, and 6 weeks later it's already gone! I feel way more energetic, excited about the yummy and healthy food I take with me places, have more money, and am going to talk to my physiotherapist to see if I can start training for a triathlon. I've been really active before but never weighed less than 165lbs... and while it'd be cool to be at a "healthy" weight, my biggest goal is to develop healthy, lifelong habits. I'm excited for this challenge - it'll be fun to encourage each other!

How 'bout you guys? What's your plan?

    mmm... bananas....
  • Hi everyone! Not too much exciting to say about me...I'm a college senior and I'm trying to graduate this May at the same weight I moved in as a freshman. I was a pretty competitive runner in high school, and once I got to college the dining halls and beer got the best of me. I've always felt chubby, and would just like to be confident with myself as I move onto the next step in life after graduation.
I've lost a little bit of weight already and hope to keep on going strong and keep it off! Exercise has never been a problem for me, I quite enjoy it. So for my plan, I'm focusing on eating. I just started using The Daily Plate and am trying to aim between 1400 and 1500 cals per day. I find it very difficult to get healthy foods on campus, but I'm trying!
  • How is the second day of the challenge for everyone? I plan to head to the gym for my lunch hour and start some weight training
  • Well i have not started off so good. I am doing the Biggest Loser race at my job and today was our 8th weigh in. I lost 2.2 pounds since last week, which is pretty good, but i have developed the habit to splurge on Mondays (after i weigh in of course).

So far i had a Cinnamon Dulce Latte with extra extra carmel from Starbucks, a beef and chicken Gordita with a side of potatoes and nacho cheese and large cherry coke from Taco bell (shamelessly I ate it all), a muffin and two donuts. I have not ate so much in months!!!!!!

The good news is that I usually can get back on track after I splurge. I am doing a low carb/sugar diet, obviously everyday except for Mondays. It has been going well for me so far. I have lost 19.4 pounds in 8 weeks.

I really need some encouraging words so I can make it to the gym tonight. I ate like I am already pregnant (which I am definetly not TOM) I FEEL TERRIBLE physically and emotionally!!!!!

I hope everyone else has have a better day 2 than i have.
    Wish me well!
  • You can do it Ebonie! I HATE going to the gym, but I always feel better after I get done.
You're doing awesome Keep it up!
