need ideas 4 breakfast

  • hi everyone!! Need some ideas for breakfast.. I usually eat a bannana and toast getting bored with that.. so any new ideas would be great thanks granto12 (Kim)
  • granto12: I like oatmeal, because it keeps me from getting hungry early in the day. I eat it with only sweetener and sometimes I add raisins and a little brown sugar. Oatmeal is only an occasional breakfast, because I'd get tired of it too quickly. I also eat Dannon Light Vanilla yogurt with Grape Nuts sprinkled over the top. When I want something light, I have toast with about 1/2 Tablespoon of Brummel & Brown Apple Cinnamon Spread - good on bagels, too. You can make a veggie omelet with Egg Beaters. (I ordered it at a Bob Evans restaurant once and it was wonderful.)

  • I bring breakfast to eat at work because my stomach isn't awake enough to eat any earlier!
I start with a piece of fruit and wait about 20-30 mins. I then have a serving of protein (usually 3 oz.) such as turkey, light string cheese, chicken, boca burger, soy sausage patties.
About an hour after that, I have 1 serving of Instant Oatmeal, or 1 serving of Kashi To Good Friends.
Yes, it's weird, but I have to eat like that otherwise I get the shakes.
I break my lunch up into a couple of mini meals too.

    ------------------
If it is to be, it is up to me! One second,
one minute, one hour, one meal, one day at a time!
  • Mare, I do the same thing, at least with breakfast. I too bring my breakfast to work. Between 7-8, I'll usually have instant oatmeal, then between 9-10, I'll have a banana. If I'm really feeling hungry before lunch, between 10-11, I'll have some protein, like string cheese. I don't do that with my lunch, though.

That's my usual weekday breakfast, boring but easy. On the weekends, I usually have a veggie omelet with toast. It ends up being less points than my weekday breakfast is a lot more in volume. Those veggies really fill me up.
  • Howdy all!
First thing -Mare -I'm glad to see you back. It's been a year or so that I first saw you on this site.

For breakfast here, I generally try to have at least one milk serving. A bucket of oatmeal is common -I sweeten mine with a bit of Splenda and cinnamon before cooking. Sometimes I chop an apple into it, too. Or add a bit of applesauce after cooking. My 9yoa DD is more likely to eat it with the sauce in it for cooling purposes.
My other mainstay is Kashi Good Friends cereal. It is hard to find around here, so I tried the Go Lean dry one day and liked it better than with milk.
My WI is early Saturday, so I pack a Luna bar and munch it while waiting for the meeting to start.
And occasionally, a lowfat waffle topped with berries and a smidge of coolwhip. Voila!
