Ok, so me and my hubby went out yesterday and got the wii fit so when were not at the gym we can use that instead.
well, when i got on to do my BMI it said it was 31 point something and then labeled me as Obese, and my poor little mii gained weight.
anyways when i look at myself I don't consider myself "obese". I wear a size 14 comfortably, and depending on the maker of the jeans, a 16. My shirt size is a Large, but because I have huge boobies. 42D, I sometimes have to get a XL.

I'm about the same jean size as you but yeah it's considered obese according to the BMI charts. It's just the way the BMI gods are

It's possible...being obese has less to do with clothing size and everything to do with Body Mass Index or how much body fat you have based on your weight and height.

yeah at a size 10 petite, i am obese. It has nothing to do about what size you are, its has to do with your height/weight ratio.

The only true way to measure your BMI is with calipers or one of those floatation tanks. Everyones body is different and it is just a general rule of thumb. I have seen people with my same height and weight in a size 14-16 where I am comfortable in an 8-10. Everyone holds there weight differently. You should not let them get you down, you are on the right track just follow it and you will be fine.

the BMI is the BMI and is your weight in kg divided by your height in meters squared. that is the only way to measure your BMI.

however the points you confuse is that your bmi makes no account of the body make up i.e muscle to fat ratio. calipers and flotation tank measure body fat % not BMI. this is however a much more accurate measure of your health.

the bmi is as shown a simple maths exercise which is suited to the mass population as a rough guide and nothing more.

a good example is that you can take a bodybuilder off a magazine type in their details and work out their bmi and i'm pretty sure none will have a bmi below 30 making them obese on that scale.

yes it sucks but its easy to do it requires no real training and its generally accurate for the average joe making it the best measure to compare large groups.

Because according to the BMI ratio, 200lbs and 5ft 7ins and you're obese. It's just a word though, and totally changeable!

Sizing isn't reliable, they vary so much and have increased through the years. I'm a UK 10-12 in most clothing, for instance, but take those same clothes off and you start to wonder...

I'm 180 and a size 12/medium and am still obese. Another 10lbs and I'll just be 'overweight'. EVERYONE I know tells me that I'm not obese but the BMI charts say so.

I was quite sad when the screen made that "wah waaaaah" sound and my little Mii pudged up. Only after much sweat and tears did I one day get it to "ba dada ba dada dum!" and jump up and down in happiness (the Mii did the jumping, and I only did inwardly because if you jump on the board it yells at you).

Consider: the game was made in Japan, where teenagers believe 'no girl should weigh more than 50 kilos' (110 pounds).

When I was 175, i was obese by my bmi!

BMI is a simple test, but the wii just works off the BMI scale it has nothing to do with Japanese teenagers. I am your height and at 155 I was considered normal weight( I was a size 8/10). But I have very fine light bones so at 155 I think I looked a little like the state puff marshmallow man. Because I have a small frame and I am very active being on the very low side of my healthy range is where I am most comfortable. So take into consideration your build and comfort level.

Oh, and I agree with ella13...I always thought I'd look alot better at this weight than I do, but I still look pretty chubby even though I'm right in the middle of the healthy weight for my height. I can see that I'm definitely going to have to go to the lower-end before I'll be at my own personal "comfort level". It's different for everyone.
