Keep Going

  • I lost 30 lbs but very few people have commented, I know I just need to keep going and it's no one's fault but my own how big I got. It's not their fault if they can't notice.....it's just been so hard to change my ways and get started - I know I just have to keep going. Did anyone else feel bad if people didn't notice? I guess when you get to be that kind of weight you have to lose a real lot before your friends and family can really notice.

  • People are usually too self-absorbed to be that observant of others. Don't worry, people will start to notice soon!

  • In some cases, people do notice but they are hesitant to say anything since they don't know if you are losing on purpose, or if you are ill, or what. I wouldn't worry about it. I'd lost over 50 lbs before people who weren't family or friends started commenting on it . . .
  • In my experience, sometimes people notice but it takes them some time to comment. They may hang back until it is obvious that you are making a change and not just a fluctuation. Or, they could just be self absorbed and not pay attention, like choirgirl said!

People will start to comment, don't you worry. As you make more progress you will start to carry yourself a little differently too, I imagine, and people will see that as well.

Good luck and hang in there! I'm sure you look great!
  • Have you had to move down to a different size yet?

I didn't buy new clothes for a long time with my weight loss and I finally had to when they started falling off. Once I had clothes on that fit right, the comments started coming. And coming. And coming.

There are pros and cons to people noticing, trust me.

Congrats on 30 pounds!!! That's awesome!
  • wow! 30 pounds is fantastic.... you should be sooooooo proud!

anyhow, people will notice it when you least expect it, I remember my sis in law had lost loads of weight and we went out one night, I remember thinking she looked well but didn't comment, she has really dressed up and taken time with here hair and makeup....

BUT then next day all hungover and tired ()in her PJs I suddenly realized she dropped LOADS of weight so I bet some day soon someone will take a second glance!!!!
  • With me it was different when people started to notice. I didn't see alot of people for about 4-6 months and then I reappeared. Then it was comment after comment after comment. I am not saying I "hid" from anyone however, when my habbits changed I didn't go to the same places (bars mostly) that I used to. And I am sure people do notice, they just don't say anything because of whatever reason. When I notice someone has lost weight it's usually after they have already left and I get to thinking about it.
