Open House

  • HELLO EVERYONE....I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS ABOUT HAVING AN OPEN HOUSE. THE LAST OPEN HOUSE OUR CHAPTER HAD WAS ABOUT A YEAR AND HALF AGO. I WAS NOT A MEMBER OF THE CLUB BACK THEN AND NO ONE SEEMS TO REMEMBER WHAT THEY DID. SO HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS?

    1. DO YOU HOLD IT ON YOUR REGULAR MEETING NIGHT?

    2. HOW MUCH ADVERTISING DO YOU DO?

    3. DO YOU TRY TO STICK WITH A THEME?

    4. HOW MANY REGULAR MEMBERS SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

    5. WHAT HAVE OTHER CHAPTERS DONE THAT HAVE BEEN
    SUCCESSFUL?

ANY INFORMATION YOU CAN SHARE WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED...
    , THANK YOU!
  • Hi Tigger,

We hold an open house every January. After the holidays, people are looking for help in losing weight so we thought that would be a good time to have one.
We hold them at our regular meeting. We plan well in advance so that we can get the word out. Our local newspaper will put in a small article free because TOPS is a non profit weight loss support group. Then we put out flyers at local places that have bulletin boards, like the post office, some stores, places that some of the women work, etc.
We also had a guest speaker. He was a former state King and an excellent speaker. We had him before and everyone knew that he was a good speaker, so a lot of members invited guests. We had about 15 visitors at our last open house.
We had a western theme. It was easy. Blue jeans and demin skirts are all in style now. We decorated the room with western decor and had potted cactus plants sitting on the tables.
We sent out some invitations to people we thought might be interested in seeing what TOPS is about, and enclosed a jigsaw puzzle piece in the invitation saying if they brought in the puzzle piece, they would receive a small prize.
Three of the ladies closed the meeting by singing Dale Evans song "Happy Trails".
    Hope this helps.
