Wow! Lots of posts yesterday. The controversial post re the "Mayo" diet has been closed by Suzanne with her comments. Things were getting a bit nasty. (See "Diet Plans" and Neiko's post re "wanna do this with me" if you wish.) Like Jiff, I promise to bite my beak if these young women join us - there are other issues involved here which you will find if you do a search on the poster.

Why am I up so damned early on a dark rainy morning? The Queen Mother's funeral starts in 15 minutes and I want to watch a piece of history. I am definitely not a royal worshipper but this was a grand lady. I was a few months old on her first visit to Canada and it just seems fitting. I will drink coffee, NOT tea, however.

Periodontist trip went OK - everything is stable and even improved in some areas. The driving was OK although I have a sore arm today. Did a grocery shop in the Super Store and got yummy stuff including strawberries from California, lamb, no-carb sausages and lovely lettuces.

Will be back. Just decided to get us started.

Dark and rainy here this morning. Not much on the agenda, taking DS for his Pre-K doctor visit, I think there may be a shot involved, he will not be happy. Then I am going to go to work, joy of joys!!!

A day of errands and cleaning today....I think the refrigerator is about due, not my favorite job.

Tomorrow I go and see the new psyche doc for the little guy and need to go over the list of things that he has been doing. He has been doing very very well but there are some obsessive compulsive things that have raised their ugly little heads so I think his meds need to be changed or altered. In the meantime the boys will go to school (I love school) and after school the big kid will run around the track and then head off to the batting cages with his Dad. The little guy will come home, go outside and (his words) "find his Destiny"! Translation: He is going to look for worms! Tis the season....but he misses the slugs!

I literallly slept all day yesterday, which for me is incredible. I don't sleep easily. Everytime DH spoke to me, he'd look over and I'd be sleeping! I feel a bit better today and hopefully this doesn't become bronchitis.
I read the whole thread about the "Mayo Diet" and I'll bite my tongue. I think it was around when I was a teenager over forty years ago. Be patient with these girls as we were their age once too! (Oh, to know then what I know now!)

well, let's see. i started by oversleeping and missing my morning date with raul. but no guilt here!!! my knee is bothering me from the little squats [i guess it's just too much strain there at the moment], and i needed the sleep. my first TOM in more than a year showed up over the weekend, and was it icky!!!! i had so enjoyed its absence!!!

and no, it wasn't menopause. it was a side effect of weight, no oxygen and no iron. so, its return is a sign of health, no matter what i REALLY think about it.

but on to more interesting matters!!! it's so interesting that peachie loves school for the boys. NOW she loves it. i seem to remember someone crying when the oldest one's first day approached. and also to remember some reference to'home schooling.' and NOW, she's among those cheering for the first day!!! <sigh> how time changes things!!!!

so sorry about the Queen Mum. she was quite a lady, and a real inspiration throughout some extremely tough times.

and it's great to hear that our unwell friends are getting better, but my heart goes out to you, tippy, being sick at the same time as your DH. isn't he supposed to wait on you hand and foot at times like this????

thanks for the good wishes, Dondar. the job hunt is going. not as well as i'd planned, but it's going. more than 90 people have looked at my resume on monster.com. and i've sent out quite a few, and gotten some call backs, but no interviews as yet. but it's only been a couple of weeks.

mom will return on saturday. the cats and dog are doing well. except the dog keeps looking for mom. certainly hasn't affected her appetite, though.

ruth... what time is dinner???? you bought some of my favorite foods!!! it's ok. i don't eat much!!! HONEST!!!!!!

well, off to the wars. hope to go to the chiropractor today. shoulder blades hurt. big time. he's a dear. and the strange thing is, we actually saw each other years and years ago!!! when peachie and i were kids, we'd spend the month of august at a particular beach at the jersey shore. we'd spend more time in the water [well, ok, I spent more time in the water] than on land, and i was always baffled by these three blond boys who spent entire days digging HUGE holes in the sand. they never went in the water, they just DUG>

turns out, one of them became a chiropractor [mine!!], another an opthalmologist, and the third, an orthopedic surgeon. and all avid golfers as well. how did we find out? the chiro and i were talking about how we spent summers as a kid, and he mentioned the same beach, and it just CLICKED!!!!

I went and read the thread under diet plans, and that is all I will say. I am feeling sore this am. I had a long shower and feel much more human. I spent the day in bed yesterday and felt really lazy as my DH’s grandmother did all the laundry that never quite gets done, like the extra comforter, winter coats hats and gloves and things like that. She is going to bake with the ids today after school, but I think that a well deserved bike ride for the kids is in order first.

Tippy, glad you are feeling better this morning, when we sleep all day it really is a sign that our bodied need to heal.

Peach, I am not a big fan of worms but I hope you son had fun digging. I love to get dirty in the soil and I think kids need to do that and know it is fun. Enjoy your errands and make the fridge fun.

Sooner, I wish I was a pet like you. So nice to be able to have those things roll off your brain.

Ruth, how did you make out with the fence? I have an invisible fence and although I know why you are not getting one (show dogs) we have loved having it. As a matter of fact we live in a town with NO leash law. We use to have tons of visiting dogs but now most of the owners have put in their own fence. We did have to borrow an extra collar for a dog that was being a pest to keep him out. The fence works both ways. We trained the dog not to come here. Nice dog but peed on everything and liked to dig. It worked and within a month he has not set foot on the property in almost 6 years.

Jif ( we were posting at the same time) good morning and although the TOM sucks big time it is a sign of returning heath and that is a very good thing. Look at it a a new right of passage. Also Raul will be there ready and waiting for you tomorrow

Morning Chicks!

Gorgeous sunny day today. It rained for the last two days so NOW we have beautiful green grass! Yay! Spring!!!

Not much to say...thinking of going out of town yet again...I think it must be the empty nest thing...I have a friend who went through this a few years ago and said she put 50,000 miles on their car in one year. I told someone the other day that the only time I want to be home is when the kids are here. Very strange for a SAHM -- who was happy and grateful to be able do it.

I also read the threads about the Mayo Clinic Diet...sigh. I can see both sides but I just keep thinking of my own daughter (close to the same age of these girls) and my own history. The last time I went on that diet was about 23 years ago -- I remember it well because I ended up in the emergency room w/a horrible urinary tract infection, which I'm sure was because my immune system was so compromised by the lack of balance in my diet. If Kate (dd) wanted to do this, of course it would be her choice, but it's so hard to watch that when you know what the ultimate outcome is for all but the tiniest minority. I'm not sure it's the right thing to do to remain silent -- but "speaking the truth in love..." seems to be in order.

Hey! Hey! Hey!

I'm back! We spent 3 wonderful days in LA, going to Disneyland, LegoLand, & Knott's Berry Farm! It was heaven for two 5 year olds! The 2 year old was in scensory overload, as were the adults! But, we had a great time! Seems that my girlfriend and I make a great couple with the kids. Tag teaming the kids (not as bad as it sounds) to follow throuh with what their mothers ask of them really has been benificial. Our kids are so respectful and are listening so well that we have to wonder if they are just too exhausted to argue! LOL!

I am going to go catch up on the boards. I've only gotten as far as Friday, and Scooby's job post - CONGRATULATIONS!!! - and I want to read the rest.

I've missed you all. Can't say I stayed op, but I did drink my water because I felt the dreaded UTI coming on and needed to flush it immediately.

Well, let's see what's new in my crazy life. Yesterday was Stephens last court date (or it better be!). We were set for jury trial and thanks to a change in the DA's attitude or the answer to alot of prayer....they were willing to "plea" out instead of try the case. We decided to negotiate as the reality of it is...how many of you would take the "truth" of an 18 yr old over the "truth" from a policeman? I was surprised that they even changed the verbage in the required forms to not reflect an admission of guilt. He still has to deal with probation but much better than what he was facing if things had gone the other way. Sigh of relief here, now he better keep his butt straight!

DH has been having his tom for the last few days! Man! Surely we women aren't THAT bad !

DS Michael is doing well. His nasty "bite" still looks like an infected boil but is improving.

Me....without whining or wimpering.....I just need a vacation! Anybody have a guest cottage for a chubby little, exhausted, stressed out Texas girl?

The real treasures in life is what keeps me going and the most important! But it sure is nice to come in here and gripe about all the BS mixed in with them!

Today is paperwork for dh, a few errands and some housework before dinner, etc..

Well it has been a good day thus far! Went to preschool and on a fieldtrip with dd 4....she loved having mom around.

Then we came home and took the dog for a walk.

We just had lunch and I am ready to nap, but I have so much house work to do.....

Spring is just starting here, so it's chilly, but beautiful. Just say the word! Maybe I'll start calling it the "Spa La-Chickadee" and charge big bucks (of course, you'd get the 3FC freebie). I'm glad to hear that Stephen's court dates are over. What a relief!

Jif You crack me up! I think it's pretty essential that we always keep Peachie on her toes, and you are doing a fine, fine job.

I don't have much time to post today, because I should probably do the ebay thing and make some actual money. I'm keeping my mouth shut too about the Mayo thing. I do remember the days of yore fondly though, when I could go on the diet of the day and lose weight like magic. I've done it at least a thousand times! Yet, here I sit, old and fat, and much, much smarter - but nobody could have told me nothin' back then!

Got on the scale yesterday for the first time since before Christmas. 265! Oh, well. It could have been higher.

Got called to work today and yesterday (thank goodness). Tomorrow is early release day here so I probably won't be working. I have some errands to run anyway so it's will all work out for the best.

It's about 68 degrees out there right now but very cloudy. The air is starting to cool and it feels like it's going to rain any minute. Hopefully it will start before 4:30. I've got every window in the house open and I'll need to close them before I leave for a Parent-Teacher conference for my youngest (report card day).

I've been eating protein bars and drinks for breakfast/snack lately. They are (barely) edible. All have less than 3 grams of carbs and do fill you up. So I guess they are worth the cost. At least now I don't have to worry about giving into my cravings for bagels when I'm called to work (if I'm home, I just scramble somes eggs and cheese). I brown bag it for lunch, too. No way (diet or not) will I eat what they laughingly call "food" in the school cafeterias. (If you work in one of those, don't get mad. I don't blame the cooks -- I blame the quality of the food they are given to work with.)

Well, got to go. Need to figure out what's for dinner tonight so it can defrost while I'm at my meeting.

A massage?? After 11 miles??? Wow, wouldn't I love that!! So whose this Raul and how do I get one??
Going insane, and trying not to choke my children while I'm at it! I spent 31/2 hours cleaning out DH's room today, then moved on to the game room, another 2 then DS's room for 1.45!! OH MY!!! I'm wondering if legally I can put them in the garage?? DS actually took off pants he peed in, threw them on the game room floor, and kept playing playstation!!! HE WILL BE 5 NEXT WEEK!!! UGGGGGHHHH. We then had a VERY long rather LOUD talk about why mom is not a maid!! Our house is over 3,000 sqft. WAAAAY too big for me to clean alone! Did I say UUUGGGGGGHHHH
Friends coming in from Nova Scotia on Thursday. My good friend that has been planning on coming since we moved away, now she finally is, but bringing her mom too!! Hmmmm...should be interesting!!
Well, have to finish the other rooms in my dump...

What an amazing day at work! The boss was out of pocket all day (YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and one of the aggravating people in my office was out sick. Very quiet and productive day today! I needed that to get caught up. The only thing that could have potentially ruined the day was my answering the telephone "Hello" instead of our standard greeting. Guess who was on the other end? My regional manager! DUH!! The first time I've done that in years and HE has to hear it. The good news is he just laughed (THANK GOODNESS!)

My second OP day (truly really and undoubtedly OP) and I feel less than wonderful. The headache! The cravings are getting a little better, so I think I'll live through it. UGH! Wonder if I'll lose anything?
