  • Hello all, I am now tracking my macro nutrients, and was wondering what is your biggest contributing factor to protein? I was astonished to discover just how many carbs I was taking in, and found most of my sources of protein also largely contribute to my carbs.
  • Chicken, lean beef, pork tenderloin, ground turkey breast, greek yogurt, and egg beaters/egg whites...all of these are big parts of the protein in my diet.
  • I'm not a big meat eater so on a daily basis plain yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, whole wheat products, and nuts and legumes provide most of my protein. I do have either a chicken breast, some shrimp, salmon, or sardines 1-2x a week.
If I were seriously trying to build muscle, I'd probably need more protein.
  • Mine are egg whites, turkey, chicken, tuna (and other fish), ff cottage cheese, ff yogurt, lf cheese, lean pork , some whole grains and some beans. I also love peanut butter and almond butter. (eat both daily).
  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts, turkey breast, ground turkey, soy burgers, seafood, yogurt, eggs, beans, nuts.
  • Salmon, meat replacements like tofu and seitan, cheese and peanut butter to a lesser extent. Hey, mariarose, I noticed you included whole wheat products. Is there really that much protein in it? I'm afraid I have never looked. How curious!
  • Not a TON of protein, but it seems like most of the breads I eat have 4-5 grams a slice, and the english muffins I like have 6 grams. Whole wheat pasta has protein too. None of them have a whole lot, but it all adds up.

EDITED to add: oatmeal, many cereals (kashi go lean especially!), quinoa, barley, and other grains have protein too!
  • Seafood, definitely. Turkey breast runs a close second. My protein grams are generally 100+ per day. When I run short I do a protein shake. I'm burnt out on chicken at the moment. Bawk!
  • Seafood, chicken, yogurt!
  • soy protein, eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt and sometimes meat.
  • Yoghurt, Egg and Tofu.
  • Lean beef, chicken, turkey, tuna, eggs, fat free yoghurt, low fat cottage cheese. I crave protein and try to get plenty in, every day.
  • My protein intake looks like everyone else's -- poultry, seafood, beef, nuts, dairy, soy...but there is one thing which I LOVE which I didn't see mentioned!! It must be because I'm in the Mile High City but I love a good Bison burger. They have less fat than regular beef and as a result are incredibly lean and rich in iron! So yummy! If you can...check them out...it makes for an interesting BBQ!
  • You know what I want to keep in the car as a protein snack? Salmon jerkey! It sounds sooooo yummy. But I can't find it anywhere around me and the prices on-line are crazy high.
  • turkey breast, chicken white meat, halibut, salmon, yogurt, cottage cheese, chick peas (in hummus), and apparently according to others I get bonus protein points with whole grains! *blush* I didn't know that!
