The Weekend - March 23 and 24

  • Good morning, Chickies! Cloudy and cold again - this is getting pretty old! The good news is that the 1500 daffodils we planted at the Church have come up!

My dear sister brought us a luxurious gourmet take-out dinner yesterday afternoon. Such a treat! She also brought the birthday quilt we all made her for show and tell - looks very good and my contribution is not too shabby. Lucy just terrorized Joan - she really is petrified of dogs - so we sat in the parlour and drank tea while the men minded the dogs in the back room. Unfortunately she also brought 4 butter tarts - never leave me in a house with butter tarts! Oh my! Lots of water coming through today.

Off to the Library here in the Village this morning - am going to try driving there. This forced inactivity is driving me nuts and I can use the right hand a bit for steering. Next week I may try for a haircut in Brockville and maybe a grocery store trip. When the walking improves, I will get out and walk slowly - it is just amazing how weak you feel when you sit on your duff for a week or more.

Have a good weekend, Chickies. And take care of YOURSELF for at least a little part of the time.
  • I can't believe that I am the second one to post this morning .. actually .. I cant believe that I am on the puter this early

Well, that feeling of impending doom is still with me .. I will have to speak to the vet later this morning to find out the remainder of the results on Tuppie The hamster made it through the night so I will try to get him some meds today. My DH will be going to Sudbury next weekend ..

Anywho will let you know what happens with my "child" later.

    Have a wonderful weekend all
  • Morning Ruth and Goomba!

Hi to everyone to come-hope the quiet morning here means everyone is having a productive day!

It is errands for me today- dry cleaners, BJ's and all that jazz. Hate doing it on Saturday cause everything is crowded, but weeknights after work I'm usually too tired! It is enough just to pull dinner out of a hat for myself and DH, and pass out on the couch! I have been going in to work earlier for the past 2 weeks, and it is keeping me away from the computer in the mornings! I miss being here during the week- the morning was my quiet at-home time.

It's beautiful and sunny and clear today, but COLD! The daffodils and hyacinths that were poking up are frost bitten, we'll see what survived after a week or so. You'd never know it was spring!

Hope everyone's colds are gone, and we are all healthy- relax and enjoy the day.

  • Morning all!

Been lazy this morning, DH has gone to Bristol for the NASCAR race with 2 friends in our RV. Three men in a motor home, not my idea of fun but what do I know....

Taking the kids to a 3 yr olds birthday party this afternoon, I have a headache from the thought of it.....

Well gotta go wrap the presents and straighten up the house a bit...have a great day everyone!!!
  • Why did I do that??
Woke up first thing this morning and went to Lowe's. What was I thinking?? 7000 colors of paint and 10,000 different ways to apply it. For someone who has trouble making decisions, this was a tough one for me!!! Ended up with a great sea-green color and am going to "rag-roll" it on the walls. We'll see, but I may be back there tomorrow to buy some white to cover it up again.

If you don't hear from me today it's because I suffocated on fumes!

    Ya'll have a good one!
  • Beaten but not dead yet!
The walls are done. Now I'm waiting on the feeling to come back into my arms. I forgot with rag-rolling you don't have an extension rod!! They look beautiful. Tomorrow I'm going to do the window sill and doorframe, and touch up the ceiling. I'm one tired chick now. It's a bath in my stinky bathroom then bed for me. Ya'll have a good evening!!
  • It's a pretty Sunday here supposed toget back in the 60's today!! Yea, we had 2 nights below freezing, but this morning my dirbath is not frozen...good news for my tulips!!!!

Taking both children to church and Sunday school this morning, should be interesting. MY DS is heading back to Kentucky with my brotherinlaw to spend the week with his family, so it will be a quiet week here with just DD. I am driving up there Friday night to get him and coming back Saturday.

GOtta get the Easter stuff together this week. Hope you all have a spectacular Sunday!!!
  • Quiet Sunday here,
just hanging around and doing little things.

I have a turkey breast in the oven, and bread for DH in the bread maker. I need to run the vacuum around a bit, but otherwise, that's the end of the chores. I will go visit DM to see her pictures of a recent trip- may stop at the library on my way out and look for something to read. Really trying to bring things "down a notch" here, I can't focus on eating lately, and need to get back to thinking about myself! Did some weights yesterday, that felt good!(as much as I hate to admit it! ) Actually, it's only cardio that I hate- I like strength training and yoga and some other exercises, like swimming. But I hate feeling over heated and out of breath- like when you're jumping around or running. My feet can't take running these days, but I tried a mini-trampoline and it was fun, maybe I'll do that today for a few minutes.

What else? Planning for work lunches and snacks, that's always a problem! I run out of stuff around Thursday and start eating cookies and juice!

Well, have a good Palm Sunday, or regular Sunday, what ever your pleasure-

    be good,
    dottie
  • Happy Sunday!

I am exhausted this morning. I got up at 3:15 to take dh to catch the airporter for a 730 departure. He has left for 7 weeks and will hopefully find us a place to live while he is gone! Please let me stress ONE MORE TIME how much I am looking forward to him being done with the coast guard so I don't have to be a single mom anymore!

And, speaking of which, right now it looks like I need to go clean some Cheerios off the floor.

    See ya later!
  • OK, I'm shlumping back in, sore back and feet and don't want to look at a paint can in a while. I painted my grandma's diningroom this weekend and went to my brother's birthday party to boot. I'm one tired chick... But the fact that I thought about you guys tells me one thing--I'm either addicted or I can't live without you--what one do you think it is?

Going to go to bed early toinght, just finished a lesson plan since I'm teaching this week. Won't be in here too much but trust me I'll be thinking of you!

And for all those who are aware--this is the last week of the Spring Challenge!!!!! Final close of it is March 31st--Easter Sunday so I'll post a thread on that day for our final weight tally. Remember it's your last chance to be fabulous on your plan so get to it chicks!
