Nutritional yeast?

  • Hello, does anyone know if nutritional yeast flakes would be included in Core? I can't find a listing for them. Thanks!
  • I'm sorry. I like to consider myself a Core expert, but I've never even heard of these. I'd look up regular yeast and judge by that.
  • A lot of vegens use it. It basically replaces cheese. I have used it in a tofu Alfredo sauce, and I have a recipe for a cheese spread that calls for it. You can even sprinkle it on pizza for a cheese-like taste. I looked up yeast, and it isn't Core, but it's also 0 points. I'm pretty sure they aren't the same, but I'm really not that sure. Any help any one can give would be great! Thanks again!
  • I had this same question. I use nutritional yeast all the time on my popcorn (and pasta), but I count it because it's so easy for me to overdo it. Here's the nutritional info for the Red Star brand, which is pretty standard -

    Nutritional Information:
    Serving size – 1 ½ tablespoons
    Calories – 60
    Total fat – 1g (0g saturated)
    Sodium – 5mg
    Total carbohydrate – 7g (4g dietary fiber)
    Protein – 8g

It fits all the criteria for being Core, but since there's no consensus yet and I use more than one serving at a time I just count it. It's not too bad points-wise
  • Thanks JoyfulVegGirl...the brand I bought didn't have any nutritional info on it. I will count it until I hear otherwise. Thanks again!
