  • Just starting the thread. Will be back later to post a nice, long message to bore everyone to tears...
  • Morning Jess!

Hope everyone's morning is good. I weigh in in 2 hours - yikes! I feel lighter... I feel like I should lose. We'll see though. I ate out twice on Saturday and I ate out last night. Last night I was still within my range, so that wasn't so bad. I jsut want to be under 160 today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. That'll be a milestone for me. In the 150's!!! Still scary though that I have another 50 to lose.

Ali - have you been watching hockey? I thought you guys would have been more dominant. I think they tied on purpose yesterday though because I'm sure they'd rather play Finland then Russia. Sweden's been out of control! What bites is that the gold and the bronze winners get to end with a win... so it's pretty sad that the silver/gold game the silver winners will have to end with a loss. What a downer.

Okay- well wish me luck that I'm out of the 160's for good.

  • Hi Gals!

How is everyone? I had a great weekend Lots of time with friends and family. Guess what? Yesterday was my WI day & I lost another 2lbs! Yippee! Its amazing how well the program actually works when you follow it like you're supposed to I am so happy-I haven't had two weeks of losing in a long time. I am totally committed & motivated. I just need to stay that way. That's the hard part.

Lisa, I don't think we tied on purpose. Did you see the game last night?? In the second period we stopped hitting & then the Czechs dominated. They are such a physically aggressive team that in order to beat them we needed to be equally aggressive. In the third period they all looked tired & the pace of the game slowed quite a bit. Brodeur saved our butt in the third. If we had really wanted to lose don't you think that he wouldn't have bothered to stand on his head? Also if we had wanted to play the Finns so bad don't you think they would've started Belfour?? The Finns only play two teams really tough-us & the Russians so it wouldn't have mattered whether we won or lost because either way we have to be on our toes this next game. Its sure taking our team a long time to come together as a team. Too many superstars I think that at first thought they could come out & do it all themselves. The first period yesterday looked the way that we expected them to look the whole time. They need to find that & make it consistent. I think we need to shuffle our lines a little bit still too. I mean poor Ryan Smith gets put on the line with bashers Lindros & Nolan?? He is used to playing on a very fast line with the Oilers. I don't know how many times he was offside last night because the other two were too slow for him. Plus Smith is one of those guys who is consistently in front of the net waiting for the sweet pass but with Lindros & Nolan that pass nevers comes. I'd like to see him on a line with Iginla & Shannahan or Lemieux & Kariya or even put him with Fleury. Fleury sure took a beating in that game last night! Everytime they showed him he was being checked hard or laying on the ice! Feel sorry for the guy when he's only 5'6" but it was entertaining! Did you see that 2nd goal by Mario? Hasek was so over the line! Thank goodness for video goal judging! I knew right away it was over because Hasek, who is usually such a hothead didn't get up & try to contest it with McCreary. I'm looking forward to the next game. Ever game we've come out improved from the last so hopefully we'll have ti even more together by then. Anyway so sorry for going on & on about one of my favorite sports! I hope I didn't bore you all to death!!

Hi Jess, thanks for starting the thread. Are you starting a journal thread this week? Sorry I didn't have a chance to post much on it last week.

Hi to everyone that's posting right now & all of you lurkers out there come out & play! Welcome to all of our newbies too! Talk to you all later!

    -Rina
  • Rina!! I didn't know you were such a nut like me!!! I actually only caught the first two periods. And So when they were down 2-1 I was thinking.... playing Russia might be a tougher job than playing Finland. And if they lost, they'd play Finland. But they don't want to lose because they want to go out showing they're a good team... so tying would be their best bet because they'd still be seated to play the Finns on Wednesday. However, I didn't see the third, so I didn't see how tired they were. You're right.... though, too many superstars can backfire. It's tough since they only had a few days together as a team before getting in there. It's so faced paced with the fast face offs. I was getting woried about our goaltenders, but they've really come around. However, they've each oly played on game and I think we'll need to look to one guy to get it done. A rotation when so much is at stake makes me a little nervous. And our hero's so far aren't the ones I would have guessed - Scott young (an alum of my alma matter!!) and LeClair! I went to BU and the team has 5 BU grads on it. GO BU!!!

Okay - don't want to bore the other posters. Hi ladies.

I weigh in in 45 minutes!!! ACK!
  • Happy Tuesday!
Hey girls! Hope everyone is doing well. I don't have much time to post, but wanted to stop by and say hi since I haven't been around much lately. I am moving on Saturday so things have been really crazy trying to get everything organized. But I am excited to be in my new, BIGGER place and just found out yesterday that my landlord (who is also my friend) bought all new appliances!

    Hi Jess!
Lisa - Good luck at weigh in!! Hope you're under 160!!
Rina - It sounds like you are as crazy about hockey as I am about basketball!

I'll try to check back later to see what everyone is up to!
  • Wow I didn't realize how dead the board was yesterday. I think a bunch of people must have had off for Presidents day. Yesterday I was op so that was good plus I earned 7 activity pts but they only count 4 of course but regardless I ended the day with 5 bankable pts. Today I plan to do well. I packed my lunch so that is always a good start. I find that I am most hungry in the afternoon I am not much of an evening eater.

Ok I have a question for the runners. I am thinking about running at Race for the Cure. It's a 5k run or walk but I have read in all of my fitness mags that training for something like this is a good motivator for weight loss. Anyways it is only 3 miles but I don't run. I am just wondering if it is naive to think that in 2 months I will be able to suddenly jog 3 miles. What do you guys think. I do aerobics now but I know that it is different to run. I Know that Kirsty and Lolly have run before in these type of event. How long were your runs? Ok I would definitely appreciate some feedback. I am really excited at the prospect of it so I hope I will be able to do it

Ali- AHA! I knew it wasn't the friend I know what you mean about having friends out of town. My best friend lives in NY and I am in Michigan. I haven't seen her in a year. I am really tempted to hop in my car and drive there. It will take about 10 hrs but I miss her

Lisa- Good luck at WI. Don't think about the 50 more look at where you've come from. YOur stats are soooo impressive. Bravo!

    Morning Jess!

    I shall return!
    Becky
  • oops missed 3 posts while I wrote mine

Jkarr- Morning! I am so glad that your apt is nice. New appliances, that is always a good thing. I hope that moving isn't too stressful I have moved 2x in the past year and a half. From school in Va. to home with my parents to my current home. It is fun but it can get crazy so I wish you peace of mind

Rina and Lisa all I have to say is that you scare me How do you remember all of that? I am just kidding I enjoy sports also but it is safe to say I don't enjoy them 1/2 as much as the two of you My dad was athletic director or my HS and he played college b-ball so of course my 3 sister and I played a lot of athletics in h.s. but I guess I don't watch a lot of them. I think it is so funny that my dad being the sports nut that he is had 4 daughters Well girls I hope that your teams do well.
  • I'm back, like I promised I would be...
Morning everyone! It's Tuesday, and I'm back after a nice, long, three-day weekend.

I WI today, yikes... I can honestly say that I'll be pleased if I've managed to maintain after the weekend I had... We'll start with Thursday--V-day, didn't much bother with WW. Friday started out OK, but I wound up drinking WAY too much (we're talking I was walking around the bar grabbing behinds) and of course, getting the major munchies. Saturday, I was hungover and my sister and I were desperately craving Burger King. Can you say "whopper"? However, I got back OP starting Sunday. So, if I'm still where I was last Tuesday, I'll be VERY pleased.

I'm kind of looking at new cars today, does anyone have any ideas of something affordable and fun? I really want an SUV, but don't think I can afford one...
  • Oops
Didn't mean to end that message quite so soon... It's sort of like Monday, and I'm still very tired.

I was going to respond to other posts, here goes...

Lisa--Good luck getting out the 160's for good! I just wish I could get into the 160's.

Rina--Sure, I'll start a journaling post for the week. I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses it...

Becky--I do Race for the Cure every year (my mom's a survivor). Ya know, you don't have to run the entire thing. In fact, I don't run any of it. A lot of people at the one in Omaha don't run, in fact, it's marketed here as a walk/run. If you do want to run, I have a friend who trained for a 27 mile marathon, maybe I could get some training info for you, if you'd like.

OK, now I'm gonna get back to looking for cars. Will check back later...
  • Becky -
I run 5ks (I am running one this Sunday!) and definitely think you could be ready to do it in 2 months. Check out this link for a pretty realistic training program (the schedule is at the very bottom of the page):

    http://www.cararuns.org/training_pro...ktraining.html

I run the Y-Me Race Against Breast Cancer and the Race for the Cure every year (my mom is a 4 year survivor), as well as a few other races.

But as Jess said, you don't have to run the entire thing. You should start running a bit now and see where you are the day of the race. Run as much as you can, but it is okay to run really slowly or walk if you have to! You will be swept away with how powerful the event is and that may give you more motivation than you expected. A lot of people run in memory or in honor of someone they know with breast cancer, and to be able to wear a sign "in honor" of my mom as I ran past so many people running "in memory" of their moms kept bringing tears to my eyes as I thought about how lucky I am that my mom is still here. It is really a remarkable experience and I say GO FOR IT!!!!!
  • Happy Monday!! (for me)
Hi everyone! I'm playing catch-up since I was off yesterday.
I haven't been able to read the posts, but I need to get back to work.
News Flash!! Does anyone eat "Pirates Booty" chips?? Good Housekeeping did a test on them because the chips or puffs were supposedly on 2.5 grams of fat per serving. The tests showed they were actually 8.5 grams of fat on an amount less than the suggested serving!!! GH called them on it and the Pirate Booty company was going to try to recall the packages, but it doesn't seem like they were trying very hard!!!
  • WOO - HOO!!!!!! 158. Down 3 pounds! I have my friends to thank for that. They were so supportive this weekend when they came to visit. A lot of my friends get pushy when I won't drink if they come into town. They're like, "COme on, let's get drunk. I'm not here very often." But this weekend my friends were totally supportive. Kept ordering me diet cokes at the bar.... worked around my gym schedual! It was awesome. They rock!

Jen K - your place sounds awesome. And that's cool you're friends with your landlord. That's got to be nice.

Grace - I think you could have time. YOu'd be surprised. I had never run before, and I just started adding 5 minutes of running to my treadmill workout. Then I'd up it about 2-3 minutes a week. at 185 (a lot of weigh for being 4'10") I could run about 2 miles. Now I'm up to 4. I think it you pace your self, stretch and gradually increase your time running, you should be fine.

Jess - grabbing behinds!! Isn't that the best! Sounds like you enjoyed your evening (as did many of the men that night!)

Stacey - OMG!!!! Really? I do eat Pirates Booty!!!! Quite a bit actually. Thanks for the update. Man!

    Well ladies, back to work!

    Lisa
  • Thanks for all of the 5k advice. I am really excited and I talked to a guy here who runs Marathon marathons like 26 miles and he gave similar advice about just adding a few minutes at a time. I cried just reading about people running in memory of moms. My grandmother died of cancer that started in her breast. I think of her often and would love to feel like I am doing something to further the cause. I hate to admit it but I didn't think of t hat before I mainly wanted to do it as a fitness goal. How shallow am I? Oh well I am so glad that you guys reminded me of the important purpose

Lisa- Yes I am soooooo glad that you did it. Look at you all skinny in your 150's!!!!! congrats!

Jkarr- thanks again I am definitely going to check out the website.

Lisa, Jess, Jen- How often do you run per wk? I do aerobics and I am just wondering how I should work it in? I guess maybe the website will be able to answer some of my questions but we will see. Thanks girls!

Still OP so if I am good tonight I will have had 2 successful days of exercising and eating. I know it may not seem like much but for the month that I have had it is wonderful

  • OOH forgot to mention that I bought Sweet Escapes Crunchy PB bars and I love them. It is like a butterfinger! Only 2 pts! AHHH Such Bliss!!!! Only one question How do I not eat the whole bag?
  • Lisa - WOO HOO!!!! I am so happy for you! You have come so far and I have no doubt that you will get to where you want to be. Try not to rush it - it will happen. I bet you look great!!

    Hi Stacey!

Becky - I usually run about 4 miles at a time, 3 times a week. I run about a 10 minute mile, so I am by no means fast, but am comfortable with my running abilities as they are now. If I run too much, I seem to suffer from foot/knee problems. I'm sure since you already do aerobics that you can make the transition to running as you are already in good shape. Let me know if you have any questions! I think signing up for a 5K is great motivation. That is why I do them every couple of months - it keeps me running more regularly than I would if I had no goal. (and I don't think it is shallow that you originally decided to do it simply as a fitness goal.)
