An experiment...

  • Hi all. Came across something strange, and I just wanted to share it with you and see what you think. A long time habit that I have had (as long as I can remember) is what I call eating in circles. I will eat all of one thing, then move on and eat all of the other, so on. I may be full half way thru, but because I haven't even tasted anything else on the plate I keep eating until I'm stuffed. I got into a conversation with some coworkers, and discovered that a couple of them had the same habit also. They both also have a weight problem. So I started watching some of my other coworkers when I went to lunch today to see what they ate. There were four of us, but I am the only one with a weight problem. All three of them would take a bite of one thing, then take a bite of another thing on the plate, and so forth. They all three left food on the plate, but they had a little bit of everything.

Soooo...my experiment is to try this. Whenever I eat, I want to try to eat as they do. Nothing special, get what I want, but try to eat as they eat and leave food on my plate when I am done. Of course, not putting so much on the plate to begin with might be worth a shot!

Does anyone else have this habit? What are your thoughts?

    HUGS!

  • This is weird, but I kind of do the same thing. I don't know how I got into the habit, but, for the most part, I eat one food at a time on the plate... usually starting with whichever one is my favorite. I noticed I did this a few years ago, but I never realized there may be a connection between it and overeating. Ummmm... I definitely need to start paying attention to that... maybe there's something to it.

  • I also tend to do the same thing, but I start with my least favorite and work to my absolute favorite. This create the worst situation since I have to eat EVERYTHING to get to my favorite Thanks for the suggestion maybe I need to try this also.
