Just got the Extreme book..... I've got some quetions

  • Hey all. I just got the EFS today and I am suprised how much food I won't be eating! As usual Dr. Smith has left me with a few questions:

    What is Dirty rice?

How do I make a fruit smoothie for cycle 1?

What protein shakes can we drink?

Can we use herbs or salt free seasonings?

If anyone knows, can you please let me in on the answers? Thank you. Good luck!
  • Kaplods replied in another thread that dirty rice was "Traditionally it's ground beef and liver, onion, and cajun seasonings". It doesn't sound very appetizing to me

Unfortunately, I've only skimmed the book (so far) so I haven't investigated any lingering questions. Maybe someone else will be able to help out
  • I think the recipes he has for smoothies is fine for cycle 1. As long as there are no banaas and pineapples, it should be fine.
  • My take on it...
I'm still confused about the dirty rice, too. I have made the Dirty Rice mix from Zatarins in my previous life (before EFS) and can't believe that it would be equivilent to steamed brown rice. As for the smoothies/protein shakes, I don't have a blender so I bought the ready made yogurt smoothies (read the labels though) and protein shakes. I made sure that they were low sugar, high protein and under 200 cal. And I would use all the herbs and salt free seasonings you want. I love pepper and we have this green salsa stuff in the fridge that is great on rice and only adds 5 cal per T. One incongruency I found in the book is that he says more than once "Up to 2 snacks a day" yet on each journal page there is room to write in 3 AND in the sample eating schedule in the front of the book there are 3 snacks accounted for. So, is it 2 or 3???

When I was doing EFS, I had to add a third and fourth snack because I wasn't eating a sufficient amount of calories without them. With only 2 snacks, I was probably getting no more than 1000 calories, so I had to add more snacks.
