POLL: what plan are u on, whats your carb count

  • OK I am new to this site. I have done Atkins before and did great on it. But here I am 13 months after having my baby and I still weigh 190. I just turned 22 and I already am considered obese and I have high blood pressure and Hypothyroidism. This time I just can't seem to get Atkins bound. But I think cutting down on carbs would help even if I ate 40 carbs a day, that's better than 100, right?? Anyway, what plan are all of you on, how many carbs do you eat a day, how much weight have you lost?? Thanks for answering my questions.

  • Hi amanda. I am on Protein Power and have lost 60 lbs. I keep my carbs down to about 30-40 daily but i do intensive workouts so i need really to increase some days just as i have th tendency to not have enough energy if i do not have a day wehre i take in about 50. but other than that i have been doing great i started at a size 24 and am now into a 14. Hope it helps.
  • Hi Amanda! Welcome to our chicken coop!

I am not doing anything structured. I am just counting carbs. I let all protein foods (meats, cheese) be "free" and then count everything else. I keep all my carbs complex (veggies only) and try really hard to keep the junk out.

I drink AT LEAST 4 liters of water a day to keep the plumbing running smoothly!

I stay under 50/day. I've lost almost 30 pounds, although I've dropped from a 22 to an 18. My goal is 180 (I'm 6ft tall) and I'm losing about 10lbs/month. Hopefully, by next summer I'll feel comfy in a swimsuit.

Good luck. Post daily and you're going to find TONS of support here and meet the NICEST people!

  • I'm on the Atkins Diet and I've lost 65 lbs. I love it.
Here's a great link with more info:
    Everything Atkins
  • I am on the Protein Power Plan, eating between 90-100g of protein daily and 25-30g of carbs. It feels good! and I can't believe how easy it is to eat this way as long as I plan and get my water in!

  • Amanda! I am on Atkins. I like the easy structure. If you have not read the book, do so, first.
I did low carb in 1999, and lost 28 lbs.
I kept it off, then decided to try the old standby, counting calories, I gained some back.
I am on the Induction Phase meaning I only get 20 grams or less a day. I have lost almost a pound a day.
    Good luck! Linda

    Hi Amanda,

I'm MB, and I started the Atkins program on 042002. I have lost 24 lbs so far. Although I am past the 2 weeks Induction period, I have opted to continue induction because I want to continue a more rapid weight loss. I weighed 292 lbs when I started. I am now at 268. Although I am very happy with my progress, I have a long way to go and am not ready to slow down to 1/2 lb. to 1 lb. a week weight loss. Not with so far to go. I eat meat and salads. I throw in protein bars when I don't have time to fix a meal. I don't go over 20 carbs a day. I have been posting here for a little over a week and have found the info to be very helpful. Alot of the members seem to be keeping the fat down lower than what Atkins recommends. It makes sense to me, so I've recently started eating more chicken and turkey and reserving eating beef and pork for when my husband is home. He has always eaten a low carb diet...except for alcohol consumption and rice or potatoes occasionally...hence the reason for chosing this type of program. I agree with all the members who advise, read up on what ever program you choose. Make sure it's a plan that fits with your lifestyle and go for it!
    Good Luck,
    MB
