Susan, Lala's right, think of the new office as a new beginning/slate. You'll lose that "lost" feeling. I understand what you're saying about a bad eating weekend. I did not have a good one at all in terms of eating. I started out okay but then got totally derailed! I've fallen off the wagon with keeping my journal and need to get back into that habit.

Lala: Welcome back! I read somewhere that the southern states were experiencing extremely high levels of pollen and that it was really creating havoc for allergy sufferers--maybe it's not a cold but rather a reaction from all that pollen?

I went out walking at noon today with my friend and I'm hoping it'll help counterbalance some of the bad eating I did over the weekend. It seems as if things are starting to move for DS #1's wedding plans. Keep your fingers crossed ladies! I need something firmed up so I can begin some planning on my end.

Sun is shining here and it's not too bad out--but the winds of change are coming. Thursday they're calling for snow/rain mix and of course it's when I have off!

Things aren't much different here this morning. I know it is early in the game, but I'm not sure I can tough this out. It doesn't help that I came down with a cold yesterday and am feeling like poop. Maybe the answer - for today at least - is to go home and pull the covers over my head.

Susan: Coming down with a cold and not enjoying what you're doing is a bad combination--I second the going home and pulling the covers over the head! Go and get some rest and hopefully you'll feel better. I've been struggling here at work too...it's the time of year that I really dread and I really struggle with being motivated. Once I get over this hump I'll be okay but until then I tend to want to sleep, eat, and just "be", if that makes any sense at all Here's to both of us getting over the "hump"

It's a beautiful Spring morning here--the sun is shining my mini daffodils are in full bloom as well as my snowdrops and primrose. The lilac bushes have a lot of green sprouting and I'm hoping that the nasty weather they're calling for won't damage them. Today we're expecting temps in the mid 70's and then we're supposed to have a nasty cold front roll through with temps dropping into the 30's and they're calling for rain/snow mix for the next 4 days! It figures since we're off work from Thursday through Monday

So how's everyone else???

I'm at home with day four of a really bad cold. Hmm, I'm not liking what I am doing at work either.....

I am having a hard time time focusing too. I ate strange things yesterday, sort of contrary to everything the nutritionist suggested. It may be the rebelling stage of my realization that I am not going take off 20 lbs by magic.

Beautiful here. I'm going to hang some laundry and try to work. Ernest is home with me and needs his walk. At least I'll get 3 miles in today.

I wonder how Lisa is doing in London/Rome....

Hello, I am back. Well, sort of...I'm still in a European fog. Got home at 2 AM yesterday. What a trip! We went non-stop the entire time. We walked everywhere. I noticed that the British and Italians don't have the obesity problem that we have in the good ol' USA. I think it's because they walk and walk.

I saw much in London, including 5 plays. They were all great; didn't dislike a single one. Rome was dirtier than I remembered before and there was so much graffiti. Once I got past that, I enjoyed everything. Ate molto gelato (yum!) The good news is that I gained 1 pound. Let me tell you, I tried many different foods.

Susan, good luck in the new job. New jobs are always stressful and then to have a cold--yuck.

lala, sorry you have a cold, too. Three people on our trip had bad colds while we were in Rome--not fun for them.

Melissa, I'm glad the wedding plans are starting.

Easter plans? I will be singing a lot on Holy Thursday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. DH has to work on Easter, so I'm headed to some friends for dinner. I've been thinking about baking something, but not sure.

Welcome home. You saw Rome at its craziest, the week before Easter.

Actually, England is having a big childhood obesity problem due to the amount of snack foods that are consumed and lack of real sport anymore.

However, walking everywhere is key and having great public transportation is also a big factor!

I'm home for another hour, our windows are being cleaned and I am going to hang around until they are done with the inside. I trust these guys to do the outside without my supervision.

Feeling tons better today, took Ernest for a three mile walk this morning. Now he's supervising the window cleaners.

lala, yes I know it probably wasn't the best time to be in Rome, but we still saw a lot. Ate good food, too. Pompei, even though I had seen it before, was still amazing.

Hi everyone! I did some errands last evening and totally enjoyed the warm weather! We hit 78 degrees before the cold front moved in--as I was driving last evening I was watching my car thermometer drop down to 47 degrees! This morning it was a balmy 59 but since then the cold has moved in and temps have now dropped down to 39! They're forecasting 1-3" of snow tonight and some more tomorrow

Lala: No color theme that I know of yet; we'll see though. I do know they have a chef from a wonderful Mediterranean restaurant that is going to do the catering and they will have both types of food at the wedding. Her dad's family is Egyptian. They should know what dates are available here soon so then they can move forward.

Lisa: I'm glad you had fun in London and got to see a lot of shows. There is so much there and you're right there is a lot of walking. Great job on maintaining your weight while you were away!

I have a bit of a challenge because I'm off the next 5 days so I need to keep myself busy and work in some activity. We don't have any major plans for Easter, which is nice in a lot of ways. We don't have a big dinner but rather have a Slovak/Polish Easter breakfast and the rest of the day is just relaxing. I'm going to have to plan on making some low point soup or extra veggies so I can stay OP. I really want to get rid of this fluff I've been carrying around. I leave for FL in 3 weeks!

Melissa, now that is some wacky weather. We are having 85 here today which is a little warm for this time of year. A/C is on again. Mediterranean food for the wedding sounds great. I like the idea of a big breakfast and then relaxing. I've been invited to some friends for dinner; DH is working. I was asked to make rice pilaf which I've never made from scratch.

I hope you lose that fluff before you go to Florida.

I'm not sure I told you, but I'm the wedding coordinator at my church and I was notified yesterday that there are four weddings scheduled in the next few months.

I had dinner recently with some of my parents Californian friends who are from Egypt. The chef brought out plate after plate of things not on the menu. It was one of the best meals I have had in a long while.

As long as the band is good and they don't ban alcohol, should be a blast.

Lisa - I hated Pompeii, funny you liked it. We have three days in Italy after our week in Rome and DP wants to go to Sorrento and maybe Pompeii, I am trying to talk her into staying up North.

Having an okay food day, got in my three miles, now just trying to decide how to deal with work crises number 889978.

lala, why didn't you like Pompei? Just curious. Sorrento is gorgeous and very laid back. Northern Italy is great, too, especially Toscano.

Hmmm,

Pompeii was marred by finding the first of three flies in my food. Never before in my life had I found flies in my food.

The food sucked, we couldn't find a decent cheap italian restaurant, so we ended up eating at mcdonalds, which incidently, has very nice frescoes.

It was full of tourists. It made it hard to sketch. Very few of the houses were open to see and the houses with all the xrated paintings were open and mobbed by german tourists.

Oh, we also stayed in a strange hotel, where we were continually hounded by the stray dogs of pompeii.

The circumvesuviana and the trip to naples were also winners. I had quite the bout of food poisoning in somewhere near amalfi that resulted in a not very pleasant visit to Naples.

Nuf said.

Having said that, I understand Herculaneum is very nice and better preserved.



Having a morning. Got up early, took ernest for three mile walk and me for one too. Picked up some more for cleaning diety, dealt with him and now I am at work.

It is beautiful.

I have a dentist appointment at 2:30 to have my front tooth veneered or fixed from a chip from nearly 27 years ago. It should be fun. I have a brow wax at 5:45 downtown, so I will come back to work for an hour between appointments. My parents come to town tomorrow and start to look for houses.

lala, gosh I guess I wouldn't have enjoyed Pompei either with your experience. The ruins were not that crowded when we were there. Food was all right--no flies though. I wanted to eat in another restaurant that looked good, but some members of our party wanted to use credit cards and the little restaurant did not take them.

That will be nice to have your tooth fixed.

Yes, I took photos, but I haven't labeled them yet, etc. I'm still in kind of a fog.
