HI! I am a Newbie Here!

  • Hi Everyone My name is Denise. I am a mommy of one son who is the joy of my life. I short(5feet tall) and have had a weight problem all of my life. I am getting ready to turn 30 and its time to get rid of the weight before I do turn 30. I have been on every diet seems like. I am not currently on any kind of diet so if someone has a suggestion for one that is good please feel free to give me any suggestions. I cant wait to make so many friends here I am so glad that I stumbled across the site. Denise
  • Hi Denise, the best advice I can give is take one day at a time. I also believe in starting out slow. Decide what areas you need to work on and tackle them one at a time. You might start with something such as drinking 8 glasses of water per day. Good luck, you will find lots of support here. You might also want to look around for a regular group to post with. I post to the Featherweights. There is only 4 of us, but we have been encouraging each other off and on for over a year.

  • Welcome Denise.... this 3FC site is great. Just start reading in all the topics and when you find a group that you feel comfortable with just jump right in with them. All the groups will welcome you with open arms.

Just be sure to hit "REPLY" to *join in* with a group. If you hit post you will start a new topic.
Good luck .... hope to see you often in here.
  • Hi Denise,

Anyone who's had results on the diet they are following is going to think it's a good plan. That doesn't mean it's a healthy plan though.

My suggestion is to do what I did...I went to the library and got out all the latest in the diet books and read them. I can't tell you just how many I read, some I read through, others took one look at them and KNEW there was no way in tarnashin that I was going to be able to do that particular diet for a day, much less a week.

Any weight loss program that restricts food groups is not healthy, that puts high fats in your body is not healthy, common sense will tell you what sounds like a fad diet and what sounds like a good healthy WOE (way of eating).

WW is a good plan, but it doesn't work for me. I've been on it every time they came out with a new version since I was 12 years old. BUT, I have a friend who's doing phenominally on it, almost lost 90lbs quickly-it's unbelievable. Unfortunately, there's not one diet out there that works for everyone because each of us is so different. I've tried many of them, and even had my stomach stapled 14 years ago-I've done some drastic things!

I personally chose the SUGAR BUSTERS plan to follow. It seemed not only very healthy, but a way I could live with indefinitely. Here I am 19 months later, after losing 74lbs and feeling wonderful. I overcame my emotional eating, haven't cheated once since I started and best of all, met my goal weight on June 10, 2001-5 months ago! I've since then gone down even more. I can never see myself eating any differently-there is NOTHING I miss-NOTHING!

I wish you much luck. If you have any interest in SB, you can send me a PM or visit our SB SUPPORT BOARDS here on the 3FC'S site at the link

Also, to give you an idea what SB is about, there's a gal who has a great site that gives you a overview of it:

Whatever you decide, I wish you luck. It's good you are doing something about this now, while you are still young. I've yo-yoed up and down my entire life and now, when I finally weigh less than I did in 7th grade, I have flab hanging all over the body because I lost my elasticity in my skin-don't make the same mistake I did, it's not fun-I speak from experience.

    GOOD LUCK!
