Scottish newbie - fired up to start!

  • Hi everyone

Feeling motivated to start the losing process. I am focussed to lose 70lbs, hopefully by the end of August 07 for my Silver wedding anniversary.

I work 2 dayshifts 07:45 - 17:45hrs (10 hours) followed immediately by 2 nightshifts 17:45 - 07:45hrs (14 hrs). I then have 4 days off but with being late 40s, I sleep after last night shift, then it takes me another couple of days to 'adjust' back ready for dayshift.

I live in Scotland, UK. Weather at moment is windy, dark and wet - so not very motivating.

Looking forward to the support of the forums. Hope to get simple but delicious recipe ideas too.
  • Hello - come and introudce yourself on the UK forum too. Welcome
  • Hi there!

What part of Scotland are you from? I have a bit of a soft spot for the Scots because my Inlaws are Scots. First generation here in the states so all the reletives are still across the pond. I've been several times to visit and I'd love to chat it up with you a bit as well as offer some friendly support here in 3fc.

    cheers!
  • YEAHHHH SCOTLAND!!! Where do you live?? I grew up in Scotland and just loved every moment....we moved to California in 1981 and I still miss Scotland. My parents owned a hotel over there and what a truly wonderful experience that was as well. I loved my childhood and am so thankful that I remember a lot of it!!! Welcome welcome and good luck to you!!!

Came off nightshift today, and was so tired I eat a whole packet of Jaffa cakes - so much for me feeling motivated! Worked tonight 18:00hrs - 22:00hrs (4 hours as a favour for a colleague).

Where did you live? I visited California in 1980 (toured a bit) - loved it. Hope to return with my hubby and daughter some day.

This seems such a friendly site - I hope I get motivated and get to wear the ball gown for my silver wedding celebrations!!!

What is the UK forum addy?
  • Welcome! I was born in Scotland - lived there until I was five then moved to the States. My mum misses it a lot, and she likes getting home whenever she can, although she's tired of people asking her where she's from when they hear her accent!

Hi Aileen!! We lived in a very small village called Edzell....only about 1,000 people. It was close to Brechin, Montrose (where my Mom is from) and Dundee. Just loved it!!!!

    Take care!!!
  • I am new and just read your post. I feel awful about your schedule. You are amazing to be motivated to lose weight on top of it! I am trying to lose a 80lbs and have just started. Hope to see you online.
