  • Oh my where does the time go ?! I'm ready to get back to my exercise routine and eating clean...

Today I started the new year with a 6k run, it felt awesome... It's been really nice here lately, I love thise mild weather we're having...

My exercise goals for the year are:
    -- run every second day
    -- weight train 4-5 times/week
    -- swim at least 2 times/week...

What are your objectives for 2007?
  • Compete again. Or look like I could if I wanted to.

And be in shape to run a marathon.
  • Another objective of mine is to do that try-a-tri that I backed out of last summer ...
  • today: 33 minute jog

My big objective this year is to run a 5K at some point, but I'm actually considering joining a training team at the Y for a local 10K. I don't think I'm ready, but it's a huge race and lots of people run/walk it, which I think I could do.
  • Today : chest and tricep workout 1hr...
  • I did it! Went in and worked out.

    Abs and shoulders
    3.6 mile run
  • 60 min on the elliptical. Its VERY good to be home and able to access my gym again, even if I did enjoy the change of scenery hiking provided.
  • Objectives for 2007

Run or equivalent (I have a complicated system for converting biking and swimming into "run equivalent miles to help me Xtrain) 1200 miles

    1 race a month especially:
    2-3 1/2 marathons
    Hood to Coast
    Portland Marathon

    Be consistant with weight training.
  • Quote: My exercise goals for the year are:

Those were my goals last November. Pretty ambitious. I weight train pretty heavy, and I couldn't keep it up! So I prioritized, pretty much in the order you have there. I ended up running 3 or 4 times a week and weight training 3 or 4 times a week. Swimming fell aside. But I plan to add a "lap fitness" class starting next week.

I am continuing my current weight training program until at least April. My goals are to do chin-ups, then pull-ups, and to deadlift and squat my bodyweight. I'm not experienced enough to predict when that will happen. I'm close on the deads, but I'm working on form for my squats. When my running training gets longer, I'll drop back to a maintenance lifting plan for the summer.

I've been working to keep a 15-20 MPH running base through the winter. Some weeks I make it, some weeks I don't I'll start speed work again in February, and train for a 25K in May. Then I'll pick my summer races. There are many 5 and 10Ks around here. There is a nice 10 miler. There is also a short triathlon I can try. And I could do a marathon or a half marathon next fall. If I choose and complete enough races, then I will maintain a healthy weight and level of fitness in 2007.
  • MissDee you have some great objectives ... I love lifting heavy too, now that I think about it I should make one of my objectives to be to do ONE pull up, even after 22 years of weight training I cannot do one unassisted pull up...

My exercise goals for the year are:
    -- run every second day
    -- weight train 4-5 times/week
    -- swim at least 2 times/week...
    Edited to add:
-- do one pull up unassisted
    -- do a try-a-tri
  • Oh YES - do a pullup that would be awesome. I currently support 77% of my bodyweight doing pullups and dips.
  • 40 min elliptical
  • oh yeah, ran 4.1 this am.
  • Today I ran 6.84K and it was the hardest one in ages because of the wind... On the way out I could feel the wind pushing me then on the way back, OMG I thought I was running through mud, at times I felt like I wasn't even moving
  • i had that wind on my last 2 long runs..one of them it was blowing so hard when I was running uphill that the rain was going UP relative to the ground
