Default Contraceptive implant

I was just wondering if anyone else out there has the Implanon implant, and do you think it has any effect on your weight loss efforts? I had this put in in March, haven't had a period since and am struggling to lose weight, but I don't know if these things are related. I don't want to take it out because I've tried everything else and this is the only thing that I really think works for me (doesn't make me want to strangle my lovely boyfriend like the pill did!). Anybody else in this situation?

Sorry WWAB... I can't help you... made hubs have the snip years back so don't need to worry about it...when the doctor put the implant in, was weight gain or hard to lose a side effect?

Have a word with your doctor - maybe they could lower the dosage or something. (I don't know much about implants.)

I had the implant in October 05 - *ouch ouch* after 10 years on Depo injections. I still haven't had a period (didn't get them on Depo either) and I don't think it affected my weightloss as I got to target easily enough

I will admit I'm dread having the thing taken out again but hey I've ages to go yet.

Yeah, getting it taken out is gonna be awful, putting it in was bad enough! I only wondered about the weight loss thing because before I had it in my top weight was about 12 and a half stone, and since I've had it in I've gone up another 2 stone on that. I'm not sure if it's anything to do with the hormones, or if it's was just me up-regulating my chocolate intake, but I'll just need to keep trying, it's got to come back off sometime. It's just never as easy as it went on!
Well done on your weight loss - how long did it take u to lose the 38lbs?

I recently had the mirena coil removed as the hormones it releases were causing me to crave food all the time, feel a lot better since its gone

Lets don't think about taking it out ehhh .... since losing weight I can now wiggle the implant and make it poke out ....much to everyones disgust tehehehe.

mmm it took about 3 -4 months to lose the 38lb's, I also gave up smoking midway which was interesting to say the least (6 months now yipeeee). My chocolate intake at the mo is horrendous but luckily I've managed to maintain my weight now for 6 months.

Oh Moo, got to admit that the wiggling of the implant does sound gross - and I've never seen an implant so don't know what size it is and I don't really know if that makes my thoughts better or worse than reality

You've done so well losing your weight like that and giving up smoking - well done.
