Default Having Problem Focusing!!!!!

Hello to all.Since all the tragedies that have fallen on this country, I have a real problem focusing on not only WW, but also life in general. I have to fight to journal and even worse exercise. I have not had a gain but am I crazy or do more of you have this problem. This seems so trivial when there are families that will be forever destroyed, I don'y mean to darken that aspect but having a real problem with depression. Are you too??????

Windwood, I had lunch with a dear friend today because her husband ordered her out of the house away from TV. She has become depressed to the point of nightmares and is losing her focus big time.
We shared idle chit chat, a few laughs and a great Ponderosa salad bar.
By end of too many cups of coffee I could see the tension easing in her face.
The big hug she gave me as we walked to our car told me I had helped in some small way to take the pain of this off her mind for a couple of hours.
Turn TV off, seek out a place of beauty in your area and spend time there either alone or with a friend. You are going to have to force yourself out of this or you will sink to a dangerous level in your mind.
Lives all over North America are altered in some way by the NY tragedy and we allow the terrorists to destroy a piece of us each day by letting this take all the beauty and laughter out of our lives. Feeling guilty because we live while others lost their lives so senselessly is not going to solve anything.
I'm not trying to suggest this will be easy,it won't be but call a friend NOW and promise yourself some time away from all the darkness .
This is a start...here is a big hug from ME ( 0 )

Windwood:

I can relate to what you are talking about. I was so upset following the events on Sept. 11 that I could hardly sleep or concentrate. It was as if the little things in my life like WW didn't really mean much when compared to everything else going on. I even thought, well, if we are going to war or if we are going to all be annihilated with germ warfare that I should eat what I want. But, then I realized, if I don't go back to some type of normal life and do the things I normally would do, like journal, than the terrorists have won. So, I am back to doing my journal and exercising. I have basically turned off my tv though because everytime I turn it on all I hear about is this whole thing and it really depresses and scares me. I start to think about potential terrorist plots in my area. Even today they said they had stopped someone who was going to do something to the Sears Tower! It is something I think that will take the whole nation a long time to get over and I don't think that things will ever be the same.

I had to turn the tv off as well...it's just too depressing and when I get depressed, I want to eat. I decided that the biggest contribution I can make at this point is to donate what money I can spare and then get on with my daily life, which means getting OP, journaling, etc. It won't change the outcome of anything if I gain weight and I'll just be more depressed.

Get away from the tv, newspapers and radio as much as you can. Don't let the terriorists win by letting their actions alter your life.

We really can't do more than be aware of those and what is around us and get on with daily life.

I guess I'm from the what will be, will be school of thought right now.

I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks guys, What would we do without the support we receive here. I live on 250 acres in beautiful secluded part of Wisconsin and raise search and reacue dogs for Chicago and Minneapolis rescue units. I just have to remember that life is still beautifull and so enjoy the things that make me happy. I will be damned if the terrorists will make me gain back the weight that I have struggled so hard to lose. I am back to exercising and journaling like I know how to do. Two of our dogs were used at ground zero and have to keep that it mind that hopefully played a small part in helping others. Thanks again. We can overcome this!!!!!

I too am having this problem. It started after the 9/11 attack - so I am sure that has contributed to it. I also get like this when summer becomes fall. Something about the "changing of the seasons" that affects me. Its really gross! I don't like it.

I haven't been watching the TV too much since like 9/14. 3 days was enough for me - I am scared enough that I don't need to hear anymore. Of course I do hear about stuff - that is inevitable - but I stay away from the news.

I am trying really hard to concentrate better on WW and life in general - its just TOUGH!!

Good luck ladies!

Question Are there any WW supplies for sale

I am thinking of joining a WW but started searching the web sites.
I was wondering if there are a lot of WW members that have joined several times and have the join-up booklets/point calculators that maybe they might want to sell on the web to others to haven't joined WW. I would like to purchase the WW
getting started booklet/calculator. and the Dining Out Book.
