Default Calorie counter here...do you guys count fat too???

Hi all!!

I am a calorie counter because I have discovered that for me that is the most realistic way to lose weight and keep it off!

Question... Do you guys count fat also?? How much fat and calories do you guys have in a day?

Yes I keep track of fat also. I try and keep track of everything to ensure that I am getting the right amount of fat, fiber, protein and carbs as well as fruits, veggie, lean meats, dairy and whole grains. I used this to find out how many fat grams I should have. All my fat intake comes from nuts, lean meats and fish or whole grains.

First, you need to know how many calories you should eat each day. Once you know this, you can determine how many grams of fat and saturated fat you can eat without exceeding your limits for fat. These limits are 25% to 35% of calories from fat and less than 7% of calories from saturated fat.

After you know how many calories you should have each day, you can use the chart below to determine how much total fat and saturated fat you can eat each day. Remember, these are average figures. This means if you have a day when you eat foods that are high in fat, you can balance it by eating fewer high-fat foods the next day. This idea is sometimes called fat budgeting. Also, these figures are for healthy adults. If you have heart disease, your doctor may want you to reduce your fat intake even further.

If you use FitDay, you can monitor your calories, fat, protein and carbs. It's very easy and you can set daily intake goals and it will tell you if you've gone over or are under goal.

I use the amt in general. I cap it at 50g per day. I think 20g for sat. fat. If I have an avacado or something and go over the general cap, I dont' worry too much. Mostly I'm trying to learn to reduce my heavily fattening foods.
