Default Hard Day~they drive you nuts

Hopefully I can explain what I mean Today I found myself eating two portions of something when I had planned on one. This item tasted so good that I wanted lots more of it. I realized it could turn in to a binge if I didn't stop right then. Once that binge monster gets the desire I act crazy. If I don't binge I do something else that I'm not pleased with. I eat less food because I'm afraid that if I start eating I will binge on everything. Today was hard because I had to go grocery shopping and I must of picked up 1/2 the store today and set it back down again

On those days I try and find the most boring food to eat so it doesn't tempt me to eat more. At least the feeling passed and I was able to eat a sensible dinner and my day was binge free.

My thoughts of do I or don't I drive me nuts What will I eat that won't set me off ahhhhhh Glad the day is over with

Nuts?!! Who mentioned nuts?!!! Hee hee just kidding.

It sounds like you soldiered through though!!! I'm assuming you work a weird shift, so good night?

I have to do the same thing, and if I even question, "will this set me off?" it's a no go for me. And I spend quite a long time in grocery stores getting things and putting them back. And you know, it's extra exercise too because I'm nice and put everything back where it belongs. I'm usually always going back and forth between the frozen foods and the bakery aisle. And they are at opposite ends of the store. I always wonder if they are watching me on the sercurity cameras and wondering what exactly it is I'm doing. They must think I'm a madwoman.

I find boring food too and I buy what I don't like most of the time, because if I REALLY enjoy something (even if its healthy) I want to binge on it.

Ha ha ha, thanks Harpo for helping me see the humor in this Extra exercise I like that sound of that because I was in the store for at least 1 hour. When I think about it, it is so silly. Why didn't I just get what was on my list and get the heck out of there. Most of the stuff was for my husband and he had told me exactly what he wanted. Instead I choose to drive myself nuts

Christine, I hear ya.
I have a real problem with certain foods I make for company. I always want to make sure I have extra (for greedy guests. heh heh), and then they turn out NOT to be greedy (do I subconsciously know this ahead of time?), and there are plenty of leftoevers for el chubbo here.

I hate to keep dragging up the protein thing , but are you getting enough?
Do you ever consciously think, "I'm hungry or in binge-mode. How about chowing down on some protein?" I've started doing that, and it's helping. Protein is almost the first thing that comes to mind now when I'm irritable/tired/etc, and feel a binge coming on. Or prior to grocery shopping... I'll try to have some protein. Some chicken breast, peanut butter, etc. It really does help.

Oh, and btw... ... congratulations on staying binge-free!!

I agree 100% with Ellis on the protein thing. Another thing, which I am JUST starting to realize is that I also need a bit of fat in my diet. I can do low fat protein, such as chicken breast, ff cottage cheese, tuna in water, etc. and it usually works. But if I throw in a bit of healthy fat--such as the fat in salmon or a bit of olive oil--it seems to REALLY help cut my appetite.
Carbs, even healthy ones, seem to energize my binge-beast---especially if I don't consume any protein and fats with them.

It may just be me, but it may be worth a try?

I am sitting here nodding my head...yup, that is what I do. Hubby usually goes shopping after me and buys all the junk. But if Im feeling in control, Ill pick up the lil extras.

My Dr. gave me 3 protein foods that I can eat on the go. One is a box of soy nuts,,,there are 7 packs in it...and each pack is worth 2 proteins...I have had 2 packs so far,,,need to drink about a litre of water, with one pack.
I just need to remember I have them.

I need to try the protien thing. I do peanut butter toast for breakfast and that keeps the binging off for the morning. I should probably do the same for an afternoon snack thats a tough time for me.

Thanks, I have not been eating enough protein most days, so I'm going to give it a try esp. when I want to binge and see if it helps. Thanks

Good luck! I hope the protein helps you!

Lately, I've been eating a carefully counted serving of nuts in the afternoon. The protein and healthy fat seems to help me.

Default Protein

When you do peanut butter toast, what kind of peanut butter do you use? I really hate the taste of no fat peanut butter...would it hurt if I use regular but maybe cut down on portion? What other types of protein do you snack on?
