Tanya – I’m so glad to hear that all the problems with the house have been sorted out – that must be a huge relief! Well, you can’t control the weather but I will keep my fingers crossed for you that it improves.

Andreaphilip – welcome! Stop in here as often as you can – this is a great group. Congratulations on your loss so far!

UGH! That’s all I can say about my weekend. Things started off well enough. I didn’t really go much overboard on Saturday although I did forget the cake we got for my dad in my planning ;-) I ate some and counted it (and sent it home with my parents) and was doing decently until after my folks left. Then I snacked – not because I was hungry. I’m not sure why – I certainly didn’t feel deprived. Maybe it was because by the evening my back and neck were VERY achy. I did OK yesterday at Krista’s. I had some chicken instead of sausage, filled up on veggies and salsa and pretty much ignored the chips and junk that were out. I only had a half of a small cannoli (about ½ of a regular sized one) and didn’t snack too much when I got home. The upshot of the weekend though is that I have only 14 flex points left for the entire week. Nevertheless, I’m determined to have an OP week and hopefully a loss (or at worst a maintain) this weekend. Oh, I slept in and didn’t make it to my meeting to weigh in. I had had two nights of not very good sleep and just gave myself a break. Maybe I would have done better if I had weighed in.

On the great news front, Krista (my step daughter) got engaged over the weekend!

Have a great one!

Hi all. Still busy sorting out house issues, although it all seems to be coming together now. Also working on making our business product more professional as things have been pretty quiet for a while now so need to be productive.

Andreaphillip ~ Welcome. Wow, 5.5lbs last week, that's an awesome effort.

Judy ~ Sorry to hear you struggled during the weekend, but it sounds like you did great overall anyway. Having so many flex points left is a good sign. Congratulations to Krista on her engagement. For it to be great news, you obviously like her fiance :-)

My eating still is not under control by any means. I don't know what's going on with me right now but I'm not beating myself up about it. I think it's the stress and the cold miserable weather.

Tanya - sorry to hear that things are still a bit rough. I know where you are coming from because even though yesterday was better, I snacked too much in the evening. I'm glad that you are not beating yourself up about it. Have you tried to work on one small thing, like the water? Maybe you can focus on that. Sorry that the weather is so yucky. Yes, we do like Krista's fiancee (and his family) which is a much different situation than with our ex-son-in-law!

As I said, I had a better day yesterday but it was not stellar by any means. There were bagels in the faculty room yesterday and I succumbed. Then in the evening I decided to have a Baker's Box cookie - when I ordered them, I guess I read the label wrong and I thought they were no more than 2 points each. As it turns out, after I ate it, I looked at the label and it was 5 points! I have a freezer full of them too. I counted the points, chalked it up to "oh well" and decided that I will have to just adjust how I eat them - either when I have the points to spare or just have a 1/2 at a time. I ended up using a few flex points but I still have 10 left for the week. My goal today after work (no appts) is to get on the treadmill and walk (it's way too hot and humid outside) and then do some nice, gentle yoga for my back.

Have a great one!

Hi everyone!
I am having a pretty good week so far. Saturday we went out to dinner but I did really well with my ordering--grilled tuna steak and vegetables with a salad. I did succumb to a few hushpuppies but counted the points!
Father's Day we had family over and a cookout. I had a small piece of steak and some grilled shirimp. A salad and a little rice. 2 glasses of wine.
Counted for all of it! Avoided the cookies.
Mon and Tues had to work. Didn't quite get all my water in but did my best.
Today went to the gym this morning. The girls have dentist appts this afternoon. I still have a lot to do before our trip---we leave for Hawaii in one week!! I am hoping my final weigh-in on Friday shows another loss. I have been very diligent! People at work and DH say I look like I have lost more.

Judy I'm sorry you had a bad weekend, it's so hard to get back on track once you fall off. Too bad about those tempting cookies you're stuck with! At least you have them in the freezer, that's a good move.

Tanya it sounds like things are getting better. Hang in there! Today is the first day of summer here (although it feels like it's already been summer for a month!). Sorry about your cold misery. I am wishing some sunny skies for you!

Off to pay the bills--ugh!
I'll check in later this evening!

Wow, it sure is quiet here this week.

Rachel - you've been doing great! Good for you for ignoring the cookies, counting the hushpuppies, going to the gym and just basically "workin' it." I hope you have a good weigh in and show a loss, but even if you don't, please just focus on how far you've come and then go and have a fabulous time. What island(s) are you going to? Hawaii is just so beautiful.

I think I have finally stopped "the slide". When I got home on Tuesday, I just ate and didn't stop. I did count everything (I ate 38 points that day!) which basically used up all my Flex Points. I managed to get it back together yesterday and ate just to my target and plan on doing the same thing today. I hope I can squeeze out a maintain. I'm going to my meeting to weigh in no matter what though on Saturday - no matter how little sleep I may get. I just have to face the music and make sure I'm truly back on track. Otherwise there is no way I'll get to my 10%.

More later...

Hi all,

I'm going to have to make it a point to stop here first thing in the morning. Otherwise the day goes by and next thing I know another week is nearly over and I haven't checked in.

Judy - That's great news about Krista! Has she set a date yet? I'm glad to hear you really like this guy. I'm guessing he's good with Anthony, because I know if he wasn't, you wouldn't like him. I'm sorry to hear you've had some rough spots. Sounds like this past weekend being tired and achy just really played into it. At any rate, you have it under control now. What's a Baker Box cookie?

Rachel - What a great on-program weekend! Can you send me some of that resolve? How exciting that your vacation is so close. I know how busy it gets trying to get ready for one, though. Are you the designated packer in your house?

Tanya - I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with eating. Stress will do it every time. Take care of yourself best as you can and it will all come together.

I didn't weigh in this week. I was retaining water like crazy. Eating-wise, I had a few bad days and was eating way more carbs than I should. So right now I'm just concentrating on watching my carbs so my blood sugar stays stable. I still haven't done much exercise, buy I'm psyching myself to start walking. I also have to get back to menu planning. I've been grocery shopping here and there, but that's led to catch-as-catch- can meals and lots of take out. It's time to get with it for me. It's been a busy summer so far. Ana has swim team in the morning followed by summer school, so I feel like I spend all morning in my car. But that all ends after the second week of July.

Have a great weekend.

5 days till vacation!
Well today is my weigh in day, I am down another 1.5lbs! I am kind of disappointed with myself in the fact that I should have been doing this all along and I could be so much lighter by now! But it's okay, I'll take it.
And I am really going to try to make good choices in Hawaii. Nothing extreme, I am going to enjoy myself! Not going to count points, but try to eat fish and veggies and stay away from the rice. I really hope to find some good sushi while we are there.
Carla--we are going to Oahu, and yes I am the designated packer!! I have already got the girls mostly packed and I am starting on our stuff today. I think I may have to get another suitcase. I still have to work Sun and Mon, so I only have a couple of days left to get ready.
Judy--you have been doing so well, you deserve a bad week. But you are right, it's time to get back on track, so go to the weigh in!!!

I'll definitely be back before we leave. Everyone hang in there!!

Carla - it's good to hear from you! Yes, stop by first thing in the morning. I'm going to try to do the same on most mornings. I think you are smart to start with getting the blood sugar stable by watching the carbs. You know we usually suggest people start with a few items to concentrate on and that one is definitely the most important one for you. Yes, Chris is great with Anthony. As a matter of fact, Anthony made these cute "coupons" in school as a Father's Day gift and gave them to Chris. They don't have any date set yet. The question will be what if any kind of "wedding" they have. Krista doesn't want another big thing but Chris hasn't been married before. Yes, being tired and achy definitely contributed to my bad days. I also think that the whole "work ending for the year" and the uncertainty of next year also contributed.

Rachel - congratulations on the great loss! I think your eating plan for Hawaii is great - it's very doable to eat well there with all the seafood and fresh veggies and fruits. I'm sure you will find great sushi there too. It's also a great place to get outside and get some walking in - along the beach or even inland. I know you will have a fabulous time.

I did go to weigh in yesterday and was pleased and surprised to see that I lost the 0.4 pounds I had gained a few weeks ago. That means I'm once again one pound away from my 10%. We went to our friends yesterday and I've done better with the food and drink. Still I counted everything (and used 10 flex points) so it's over and done with. I was planning on getting into their pool and doing some walking, swimming, etc but it poured most of the day and there were thunderstorms on and off. Oh well. The rain isn't supposed to stop today either so I guess it will be a day of light eating and some gentle yoga. Carla, I'm with you on starting to psyching myself up to get some activity in. I'm either going to try to walk most mornings or, if it ever stops raining around here, get to the pool and either walk in the pool, try the water aerobics (I call them old lady aerobics) there or maybe even try to do a little swimming. I don't like swimmng but it's good exercise and easy on the back.

The only challenge I have this week is Tuesday night. Krista gave Tony and me fabulous tickets to the Yankee game. My plan is to work in (with low point eating and using some flex points) a great Italian sub that we'll make and bring to the stadium.

Have a great rest of the weekend.
