Default 300+ And Ready to Try Again...#926

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!

Another very cold morning here. We are expecting around 66F, which is going to be freezing for me I think. Hopefully it won't rain for our outing to the aquarium.

I am looking forward to going for my 4th B12 jab this afternoon. I have now gone FOUR days without a nap. That would have to be a record for me! Well, for a number of years anyway.

Kayley - I still have my fingers crossed that the Whirlpool job works out. I don't think you need any more good luck though, as it sounds as though they are using their common sense and will employ you simply because you are so good.

Sharon - I hope that Aidan is feeling better real soon. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it must be to see your children so ill. I am like Ammi's friend, and if a child is sick at school I have to get someone else to clean it up, or I will be joining them at being sick.

Robwen - Welcome back! I do remember seeing your name before. You have done very well so far with the weight loss. I think that I would agree with Wyllen that 1200 could be too low, even though you are unable to exercise. At a heavier weight I would imagine that at least 1500 would be fine, even for a sedentary lifestyle. Mind you, I don't really know the facts about calories, as I never counted counted calories. I am just going by what I have seen others say on 3FC. Are you able to do upper body exercises in the wheelchair, like using weights? Or does that pull your back too? I know when I pulled my back I could hardly move, so ANY exercise was out of the question. Good luck with the rest of your journey.

Nancy - Good to see you checking in, even though you are so busy. I must remember to just do a 'fly by' post every couple of days, even if I can't write too much. At least then people know we are doing OK. I never mean to make people worry, but I seem to have a long time between posts at times. I hope you have some spare time on your hands soon, just for YOU.

Ammi - Do you have any money left after the orthodontist visit? I have heard that they can be scary things for the parents and their wallets.
You did well to choose something healthy while you were out. I am still working on that as we don't go out that often and I always try to be home for meals. I have confidence in myself and the choices I will make, it is just VERY hard to find really healthy food while we are out.

Lilion - It sounds as though you have a wonderful week planned! My favourite activity would be the archery. I have only done it a few times, but I love it! I often say we will find a club here in the city, but we haven't done so yet. I hope you have a pretty good three days leading up to your week away, and that you aren't too rushed off your feet. You don't want to be exhausted for the start of your break.

Annie - You are doing a fantastic job with your exercise! You seem truly committed to it now and I don't think you have had a break for a while. It feels good once it is just an everyday part of your lifestyle doesn't it? I just don't feel right if I don't get to exercise each day. I had allowed myself a 'rest' day once a week for a while, but that was before I cut down to just once a day. I find it easy enough to exercise once a day EVERY day. It was the afternoon workout that I was finding very difficult to get in at the end of a working day.

Patti - You are as good as Annie. 70 mins a day is fantastic! I kinda wish I was still doing that, as maybe then I could move the last few pounds, but I know that I was overdoing things with that much AND work, so I'll just stick to what I'm doing and see how things work out. I hope the change to your routine with the workmen around won't mess you around too much.

Brenda - Your 'stars' sound gorgeous. I love your theme too! I truly hope that your relay is an amazing success. Do the adults have a 'uniform' too, or just the mascots?

Xena - I'm glad I'm not the only one with a holiday scrapbook still waiting to be finished. I have some things in the one of our trip to the US last Sept/Oct, but I haven't actually done anything to make it look 'flash'. I've never done scrapbooking before, so don't really have any brilliant ideas on what to do. Maybe I should do a course.
I hope you had a lovely relaxing time watching your car being detailed. I could handle that 'job' too... the watching part, not the detailing part.

Crock - Your 'Powder Puff Ride' sounds like a wonderful idea to me. Having the men do all the work, while the women get to rest sounds delightful. Mind you, I can't really complain, as hubby does his fair share around the house, but it still sounds like a great setup. Is this an annual thing, or is this the first one? I'm not sure if you mentioned that.

Luxorbea - I'm SO glad your doctor could ease your mind about your daughter's asthma. I have seen some kids at school with asthma and the most scary situations are when they don't have the control of things themselves. They tend to get worse because they panic about being able to get the ventolin puffer soon enough. The best ones are those who have control of the puffer and know that it is on hand when they need it. I can't remember if you said how old your daughter is, but if she needs ventolin, I hope that she is able to use it herself as soon as possible. It truly does make the world of difference to their stress levels.

Well, I think I had better finish off there. I've snuck this in before work and I got a little carried away. Still have to do the dishes, get my 'face' on and then walk to work.

I hope you all have a wonderful night/day.

Take care,

Zelma

AmmiUK – Yeah it doesn’t seem fair. I was feeling a little defeated yesterday during the luncheon, so I had to come and vent. Unfortunately you guys got it and so did James *grin*

Kayley – It’s a tad bit frustrating, but it felt good to vent I just hope for their sakes they don’t get sick. Such good news for you tho with that Whirlpool job. Good luck with that second interview with the big wigs!

Dogpal – Yeah, I feel the same way about the teacher starving themselves. I guess its all in the name of money huh?

TooFatForU – Congrats on getting to your 30lb mark! I know it’s been a trying battle for you. Hopefully this is the end of the plateau for you!

Xena2005 – SO umm, when you are done with garage, wanna tackle mine next? *big puppy dog eyes*

GoingToLoose200 – Thanks! Good luck with your “Relay for Life” !

Robwen – WELCOME and WELCOME BACK

Today I have my finals for my ELL (English Language Learners) class. It’s open book, but the questions are all essay format. ICK! My other finals are next week… but they are take home finals so I already have them and have been working on them, but I still have class today and tomorrow night. It’s almost over!!! YAY!

Take care everyone!

Just wanted to stop in and say hi to you guys. I have been so sleepy today. I have been staying up way too late and then getting a big sloppy good morning kiss from my yellow dog in the picture, named Bear. I need to go to bed early tonight so I can accomplish something besides exercising. I am working with my DH in the garage tonight. Hopefully we will finish it. LOL. This couple day project has turned into over a month long. My birthday is on the 17th of this month and my hubby asked what I would like for my birthday I told him just for my Dad and Step mom to come visit. They are coming for my birthday for about a week. My Uncle may come too. I can't wait. I love my parents so much and I am still such a Daddy's girl at a week short of 40 years old! I adore my Dad and he is still so much fun and young acting. He loves to play games and laugh. We all have so much fun when we are together.

He will be looking at houses with us too. There is a good side to that and a bad side. LOL. He and I like the same kind of property but I do like a different kind of house. LOL. He does act young until he drives a car then he scares the bejezers out of me with his four wheeling and ugh, all that crazy stuff. We always let him drive because he can't get into the back seat as well as we can. Anyway, I'm trying to get things done before they come like the garage and cleaning windows and cleaning and vacuuming cars and our truck. etc.

Be blessed everyone and wish me luck to get my hubby moving a bit quicker on the garage.

Annie

Default Hope you're open to someone new....

Hi, everyone! I have been reading your posts, lurking in the background if you will, and have finally decided to register and join in the fun...hope you're open to a newbie in your group.

I never thought I would see the scale reach (and surpass) the big 300...its funny how denial works, isnt it? I have always been big, but...I was the "kind of big" that was still active....When I think back to playing sports in College and high school I have to laugh! I finished undergrad 11 years and about a hundred pounds ago. Now, no matter what I seem to do, I fail.

Diet and exercise are the answer, right? Well, I feel like I've tried everything! The few things that do work require so much effort and provide such slow results that I get frustrated and only stick with it for a few months....and then the scale goes right back up.

I'm 32...and my husband and I havent been able to have kids because of my weight (at least thats what the doctor tells me). I'm frustrated and I'm giving up hope! I will be 33 soon.....and still no kids. Maybe its just not meant to be?? I cant accept that as an answer if my size is the problem.

So--here's to starting something new. My goal is to reach 220 pounds (my overall goal is 170, but right now even 220 seems unreasonable). Think I can reach 220 (thats about an 80 pound loss) by the end of 2006? Or is this completely unreasonable???

Welcome Supersize!!! I think your goal is certainly attainable! I lost 70 in about 8 months but since then have been fighting with the past 10 lbs for months or so it seems. I also have strayed from my diet plan etc too so it is certainly my own fault.

I am sure that you will enjoy all the encouragement from the girls here!

Robwen – I love you avatar – that is just too funny!

Kayley –How did the interview go?

Prof - You are definitely welcome here. I know what you mean about being in denial. Diet and exercise definitely work. It isn’t easy and it isn’t instant, but it works!

I went to the doctor today for my pre-procedure check-up. I am not allowed to have any kinds of medications (including Advil/Tylenol, etc.) or even vitamins until my procedure to minimize any possibility of reactions with the anesthesia. I will need to make sure I am getting enough iron in my diet since I can’t take my supplement. It’s past my bed time – I will definitely find the time for a longer post tomorrow!!

Welcome prof, I hope the thought of a baby might help weight loss, but I've found doctors blame EVERYTHING on your weight! or at least mine does. I had two children in my mid/late 30's so don't give up hope. Ask if there's some simple tests such as sperm tests for hubby and checks that you are ovulating, neither are invasive, in fact I'm sure you can get the tests at larger pharmacies even. But of course losing weight will help anyway, especially if you do get a baby, believe me they are really hard work, toddlers tire you out so much, you will need to be lighter to be able to catch a runaway who doesn't want to behave in a supermarket!!!
Brenda, hugsxxxxx I will be thinking of you.
Dogpal, the big 40, wow, there's lots of birthdays at the moment aren't there? My hubby is 41 on the 18, Father's day it's my nephew's 9th then too. I hope you have a wonderful day.
I will be back soon to catch up with everyone else, I have to take Gareth to school, Aiden seems much better, thank goodness, oh and cleaning sick up makes me gag too, but there was no one else to clean it up.
xxsharon

Welcome Supersizedprof. Everyone here is so nice and encouraging. I am another casualty of Dr's saying my weight is the problem of no children and I have been married for almost 21 years. You can loose the weight. We are all here to support and encourage you. Keep coming back.

Hpnotq: So sorry to hear that you had a funeral in your life that you had to go to. Big hugs to you.

Nancy: Big hugs to you as you prepare to have your surgery.

Blessings all and good night for sure this time. LOL It is almost 1 a.m. here.

Supersized Prof -- WELCOME!!!! What do you teach? I am a psych professor -- recently tenured!

You asked about goal of 80 pounds by the end of the year. I don't know if that is do-able or not. I try not to set weight loss goals by date. I find it frustrating. You can do everything right and still not have the scales cooperate to the extent you want. I can't control the scales, but I can control my behavior. That's why I started setting exercise goals (minutes/month) -- I encourage you to join us on the exercise thread!

Despite not setting timelines for myself, I've lost 90 pounds in about 10 1/2 months. I think about trying to push myself to get to 100 pounds in a year, but does it matter if I lose 100 pounds in 52 weeks? Or 56? Or 80? no. So, I'm doing nothing different. Just keep on keeping on.

As a prof, I found summer to be a great time to learn some new habits. I was terrified that I wouldn't stick to them during the school year, but I really prioritized myself and stuck to it. I have made a Commitment to this process.

Okay, I rambled on...

I see that my last message I placed after the thread got closed, but don't remember now what I said!!!! Something scintillating?? Well, probly not...
