No, No, and I'd probably if I have kids start them on a mixed diet then give them a choice when they're older.

No, no, and no kids. Honestly if it were up to me any children I would raise would be veggie, but my SO thinks otherwise. Good thing we don’t have kids I guess

We're a totally veggie family. Me, husband, and our 2 sons, ages 6 & 7. We've been veggie for 2+ years now. The boys are little veggie activists.

my family is way carnivorous and so is my b/f. i don`t have any children, but if i did, i would definitely feed them at the minimum a majority of veggie items. i have even considered going completely organic when i am pregnant. getting anough fats and protiens as a growing child is so important, and being veggie takes so much consideration for us as full grown adults, that i would be worried they would wind up deficient. if i did go full veggie for my chldren, i would definitely want to do so with the guidance of a sympathetic nutritionist to make sure everything was ok. so, i may possibly feed them chicken or fish, but not red meat, and dairy is sort of questionable too. definitely heavy on the organic foods, veggies and fruits. also i would want them to not be grossed out at the idea of eating a boca burger, or soy milk, or tofu. i find nothing more annoying than a child who has been taught that soy products are gross and you get that wrinkled nose expression even before they try it.

When I was little my mother was a veggie, but my dad wasn't I wasn't either, but I hated most meat anyway. My husband is veggie, and my 3 children are veggies. My son thinks that it is nasty to eat animals.

I wasn't raised veggie. My sister went veggie for about six months when she was fourteen but it was rebellion more than anything. I've moved out and live alone now so my decision to turn veggie this year doesn't impact on anything, but my dad isn't happy when I go to stay with my parents as my mother prefers my food to the stuff she usually cooks with him and is currently trying to convert him!

I'm not yet a veggie but doing the E2L diet and will be overhauling my family's diet after this. I've read too much about a plant-based diet (not to lose but to live) that it will be hard for me to return to my old ways. DH will eat anything I put in front of him thank goodness but the kids... They wrinkle their adorable noses at any food that isn't loaded with sugar and other junk. I assume that if they get hungry enough, they'll eat what I serve but it hasn't worked so far. My parents and siblings love when I cook for them provided it's yummy. My mom always tried to push vegetables but not vegetarianism. I think the problem is in labels: "vegetarian" and "vegan" have negative connotations here in my red neck of the woods!

So to answer your questions: no, not yet, will try

my mom went veggie in high school and my dad in college, so my sisters and i were raised veggie. we've managed to turn a number of our high school friends, through example more than anything, but my BF is still very carnivorous (and anti-vegetable). kids are still in the distant future for us, but he's said he doesn't want to raise them veggie. i told him fine, as long as he's the one cooking the dead things. we shall see..

Well, no SO and no kids...

I wasn't raised veggie, either. I went veg when I was about 11 or so, and didn't get any support from the family. I was basically on my own for preparing my meals from what I could find, which meant I ate a lot of macaroni and cheese, cheese pizza, spaghetti, stuff like that. It didn't help that I received some pretty bad nutritional training growing up. The classic example is "it's ok to have Doritos for dinner as long as you have cheese with it." Ugh. So after 18+ years of being a cheese-atarian, I'm attempting to undo the damage. I've vegan now for ethical reasons, but the health reasons are a big plus.

If I ever have children, they will be raised to make sound nutritional decisions... ie, Doritos is not a food group and adding cheese to junk food doesn't make it a healthy meal.

I am a veggie since birth and so is my entire family (infact our religion-Hindu-brahmin). I am from india and nearly 50-60% people there are vegetarian (dairy ok) infact alcohol is also prohibited. I moved to US sometime back but my husb and his family is also vegetarian. we love it and we have more vegetarian recipes than anyone could think! Its our everyday life food!

I have never tasted nor felt the need to taste non-veg/meat and have a wierd aversion to it (cant eat a veggie burger grilled on the same grill as a non-veg burger---I know its weird)

But we cook at home everyday and living in CA is a blessing as we have a lot of vegan/vegetarian restaurants here! I love being a vegetarian!

I was not raised veggie, but I've always had a vegetable rich diet. Today, I don't buy meat and my grocery list consists of mostly produce- meat is sparse in my diet. My father became one about 7-8 years ago and hasn't looked back. Him, my stepmother and my little brother (age 9) live in a vegetarian house. It's been interesting to watch him grow up, as there is such a debate about whether or not to raise children veggie. My little brother has always thrived, is lean and lanky and has an appetite like I've never seen- and he desires fresh fruit or a big salad as ooposed to pizza. In fact, when I was down there over Christmas, he corrected my lettuce chopping!

I think it is important to add that "meat" is not a 4 letter word in that house, but it's just how my dad has chosen to raise his son. I will say that he (my brother) doesn't completely shun meat- he polished off a foot long hot dog at a hockey game that impressed even my bf (and made my father roll his eyes).

My bf was a strict meat and potato kind of guy- until he met me. He sticks to vegetable juices and salads and gets protien from lean meats like chicken breasts. I don't see him giving it up completely in the house, but he's come a long way from the processed garbage he used to eat. I'm not opposed to raising my children veggie, but I wouldn't have a problem with them following my diet- vegetables and whole grains with no real need for meat in the home.
