Smile working out (and off)

I've been reading how everyone is walking and doing various exercises to help them lose. I want to highly reccomend you look into a Curves for Women in your area. Not just because I own one, but because I believe in what they promote. I have learned a lot since I opened 3 mos. ago.
They reccomend low carbs and strength training as well as aerobic activity. (And their workout only takes 30 minutes!)
Muscle burns fat, so if you are just walking you need to add some kind of strength training. (Remember muscle weighs more than fat, so as the inches go down your weight might not go down as quickly at first)
We weigh and measure evry month, and I'm telling you, these women are losing! (AND I will be too now that I've found you guys for support!
I am REALLY starting this Monday. I will be ready.

I'm a big couch potato. I know exercise would help with my weight. I don't know if we have a "Curves for Women" in my area or not.

I have terrible knees, so I am very limited with the type of exercise I can do. The pain in the knees is terrible when I try to do any good amount of walking. What exercise would you suggest for a large women with screaming knees

I saw that Richard Simmons has a new exercise tape out that is done while sitting. I like Richard, but he can get on my last nerve after a while. Anyone viewed this tape?

Deb,
About your "screamin knees"...first of all you need to find out whats wrong with them! If it's osteao-arthritis or purely from being overweight then Curves could work for you. I have quite a few women with knee problems and if they can't use a certain peice of equiptment, we make modifications so they can continue through the circuit. You may have to start out with a small range of motion on the ones that use your knees, but because its all hydrolics you can't over-do it.
Hopefully, you will find a good Curves in your area. Because it's a franchise we are all "supposed" to be run the same way. If you call to make an appt. (Its no obligation, just lets you try the machines and talk with staff so you can see if it's a good fit for you) tell them you talked with an owner from MI and she said they should be able to work with you.
Having said all that, EVEN if you have to skip a couple machines, as long as you work hard on the others, you will see results and as you lose your knees should get better!
