Default My NEW PLAN- any tips?

Okay, I think I know what's causing me to hold onto this weight- sodium... I have been eating too many processed foods. My new plan is too eat "clean" - more whole foods, wheat, fiber, veggies, fruit.

My days usually consist of slim fast, protein bars, crackers, lean cuisines, ice cream.... too many carbs and too much sodium.

Any body have any tips? Looks like I'll be making another trip to the grocery store today.

I love making grocery lists!
Jude have you been surfing around and clicking on other peoples' fitday links? That's a good way to see what they're eating. You can also go to the threads where we plan what we're going to eat all day.
My daughter is on the phone. I'll come back.

fish
chicken breast
tuna

oatmeal

bagged salad
crunchy vegetables
frozen vegetables

fruit, fresh and frozen

You might also have a look at the food lists at Body for Life.

I eat clean proteins -- chicken breasts, lean beef, fish, shrimp, crab, pork tenderloin.

I also eat lots of fresh or frozen veggies and fruits -- I don't like canned.

I eat eggs and egg whites and cook my oatmeal from steel cut oats.

I eat cheese in moderation and like yogurt too. I occasionally drink skim milk.

I also will eat baked potatoes, baked sweet potatoes and sometimes brown rice.

I eat nuts and sunflower seeds and buy a good cracker from a local bakery here that's made from flaxseeds.

I like one diet Coke a day though and I will eat sugar-free Jello and popsicles.

Hey everyone thanks for your input- Yes Susan I went shopping-

I bought lots of salad fixings, chicken breasts, non fat milk and total (high fiber) cereal. I also bought apples, oranges, strawberries. I bought frozen vegetables too.

Good for you! Chicken breasts ... mmmm ... I don't know what I'd do without them!

okay i'm just posting this here for myself to see. I need to stop eating so many carbs- i'm eating too much cereal and ice cream, too much bread. More protein, fiber, fruits and veggies.

Okay, I feel better. Carry on.

while my husband was deployed I would cook a few big meals at the beginning of the week, and then freeze the correct portions. Then when dinner rolled around I'd get one out of the freezer-- almost like lean cuisine, but WAY better as far as sodium-- Plus it was homemade!
