Default Any suggestions eating at Italian restaurant on Wave I?

I'm starting today. I had oatmeal & milk for breakfast; spinach salad with some egg & chicken breast for lunch.

Don't know what I'm going to do for dinner...DH wants to go out to the Italian place...any suggestions for eating out at Italian on Wave I?

TIA!

Well, let's see.. whole wheat pasta is preferable to white so if you can get that substituted that would be a great step. Cheese should be left off of everything and on the side. You can bet most places won't be using low fat cheeses, so you need to be careful.

Primavera sauces.. lots of veggies, ask cheese to be left off or get it on the side so you control the amount.

Chicken marsala is a good choice.. white chicken, mushrooms, wine sauce.. yum

If you know where you are going, check online to see if they have a menu posted. better to be prepared if possible.

Just keep in mind - lean poultry, whole grains, lots of veggies, limited cheese and you'll be fine. Always ask how a dish is prepared and what's in it if you don't know. Ask for substitutions if you need them. A good restaurant will try and accomodate you.

One suggestion, is The Olive Garden, they have some pretty Sonoma friendly items on their menu. I went a couple of weeks ago, I had Shrimp and their bottomless salad, of course, I couldn't resist the breadsticks, but I only ate 2, maybe you can resist! Good luck!
