Default Trying the Beach again

I hope that this is the place to begin . Yesterday I saw my doctor to get the results of my blood work and everything looks great...except I've gained more weight and my blood pressure was elevated. So my doctor first suggested trying some weight reduction medication, which I quickly turned down, then she mentioned that she likes the South Beach Diet. So here I am!!!!!!!

I have the book and will be reading it again. I truly need support in getting this weight off. I've asked this question before, but has anyone lost 100 pounds on SB? I know that I can do this!!!!!!!

Healthy!

There are lot of people here who are working on losing 100+ pounds (in fact, there's a thread about this on the first page! ). I've lost over 100 pounds and have less than 20 more to go.

Like you, my doctor recommended SBD...I can't tell you what a change it's made in my life!

Check out the FAQ (especially the Emergency guide for Phase 1) and the recipe forum (love the Taco Bake and the PB cup recipes for Phase 1...awesome!) for more info, and I hope you'll join us on the daily chat (the thread with the name of the day in the title) so we can get to know you better!

Before you start, make sure you reread the book and check our updated food lists (a lot is different from the hardbound, though the paperback is much more up to date, it still doesn't have the latest...but we do! ), plan out your meals, do a big shop for SBD foods, and clear you house/kitchen of anything not on plan. You'll thank yourself later for prepping ahead of time!

Glad to have you with us!

Welcome to the Beach, Healthy! I've lost 71 pounds with South Beach and still have about 13 to go. I've gone from three blood pressure medicines to none. You will find lots of support here.

Thank you Laurie and Barb...you both have made me feel so welcome and so inspired!!!!!!!

Barb I use to live in Texas. Ever heard of Lewisville? I hope to follow in your foot steps and toss my blood pressure medication when I lose these pounds. Right now I'm taking two types, but I'm believing that losing 100 pounds will help me tremendously in getting off my bp meds.

Laurie is the updated food list on this site? I definitely need to find that list. I have the old hardcover SBD book so I'm very interested in knowing what changes have been made to the Phase I food list. Now to also find that chat room that you mentioned.

I'm so excited!

Welcome healthy! I may not have 100 to lose, but I have been on diets since I was 10 and ALWAYS been overweight... Tried LOTS Of diets, exercised off and on and South Beach is the first thing that I've been able to call a lifestyle... before I've been focused on getting finished so I can eat normally again, but I truly hope I never eat bad carbs again...

Healthy - I've had friends that lived in Lewisville so I used to go there quite a bit. It's a small world.

Healthy!! Like you, this is my 2nd time on the beach. And, I'm not looking to lose a 100 lbs, but almost. My goal is 80 lbs and that seems just as daunting. And, that's why I'm greatful to have found this forum! I feel that the support we give each other is the main key to success .

You all have made my day by making me feel welcome, motivated and eager to see those numbers decrease on the scale.

Sarahslacker I'm also looking to make this a way of life instead of just targeting to lose weight then returning to eating the bad carbs. I'm tired of not being able to wear 95% of the clothes in my closet because I've gained so much weight within the last 3 years.

I sure would appreciate any tip from those who have lost a lot of weight on the SBD.

Okay, I have a copy of the new food list and I'm off to the grocery store tomorrow morning to stock up on what I will eat.

Thanks a lot ladies!

Today is day one on the SBD!!!!!!! I stepped on the scale this morning and was shocked to see the number that appeared. So I'm calling this the first day of the rest of my life. This will have to be a woe for me because my old way has caused me to shoot up to ***. I can't even stand to see that number in print!

For breakfast I've had hard boil eggs, a sugar free one carb. protein shake, and some green tea.

Now to take a look at some of the recommended Phase I meals on this site.

Anyone looking for an accountability buddy please send me a PM, because I need one!
