Talking Weekly Thread for 100+ to go! #4

We are a group trying to lose 100+ pounds. So pull up a computer chair and join us on our journey!

Hope GeeChee doesn't mind...no one started a new thread and it's past time!

Happy Valentines day! Hope it is sugar-free but still sweet!

I think a good topic for this week will be...Temptations! Between the sweets for Valentine's at work and brought home from school by the kiddies and then Easter right around the corner, my house will be loaded with candy from now until Halloween...when we get to start all over again!

How do you all deal with all the sweets? For Valentine's day, I gave DH a stern warning about giving me candy! And he got me flavored coffee instead! (And roses! ) I did get him candy - chocolate/caramel dreamsavers...but it was sugar-free and only 1 pt for five pieces. For dessert tonight I've made a WW Oreo Cake. But still, DS will bring home a bag from school and there are now oreo's in the house - had to have them for the cake.

I do okay with sweets if I don't see them usually. PMS will rear it's ugly head, but I do my best to stay away! (chant with me...Don't steal from your child! Don't steal from your child! Don't steal from your child!) I also try to count it - I know that one snicker's mini is 1 pt, 1 oreo is 1 pt, you get the idea. But I suppose for me, out of sight-out of mind is the best bet. At work, I tend to stay in my snack-free office! The ONLY way to keep it under control!

Other suggestions for the group ladies?

Must run.

Default Sweets - h-m-m-m

I have my days where I do well and days I don't. I have no children at home anymore but my husband has a horrible sweet tooth (and is thin of course) and especially chocolate. He has no qualms about sitting in front of me with large dishes of ice cream with fudge topping and candy bars in both hands. I have developed the attitude that "I will do this" regardless of him. I have asked him to hide these types of things and he does that sometimes but not always, so I have just decided he's not going to bring me down!!!

I do better if I'm going to have something like candy or sweets to buy it when I'm out - something prepacked in one serving. This lets me have something but then I don't have any extra in the cabinets at home to go get later. There are just some things that I am better off just not having around though, in case I have an attack of "I have to have that."

I think we often just have to take each day at a time and hope for the best!

Red face HI Ya'll

Hi everyone, seems its been a tough weekend on some of us, let's all get right back on program and think healthy!!!!!!
to all of our new posters, hope you will join right in!!!!
I have been at the hospital since friday with my sister who was bit by a spider and it was bad, better now, so i have had to eat out 2 meals a day, had to use all my flex points and at weigh in last night had maintained so guess i did ok.

As far as temptation goes I live with 6 other non dieters, and I am responsible for cooking so everyday I make 2 meals at dinner, my meals are something that I really like and can have lots of, that way I can get seconds too. But that's just me, quantity over quality helps me.

Hi everyone,

My ankle is feeling quite a bit better today so I'm happy about that. Tonight is weigh-in and meeting and I know I'm down, just don't know how much. Im happy that I've been able to stay within my points even with the broken ankle. Tomorrow we're going to Edmonon and we'll be having supper with our kids and granddaughter at the Olive Garden. I'll have lots of salad and some bruschetta. Their bruschetta is the best! I've been saving up points so I know I can enjoy every bite without any guilt.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Hey Y'all,

Sorry to be missing in action for the last several days. Lillion, thanks for starting a new thread! I have been very busy with redecorating my friends house that my house and things that I need to do have fallen by the wayside! Anyway, I am done with that for a while so I need to get back on track! I am off work for the next six days so hopefully I can try to get my own house back in order.
Lilion...great topic...temptations......I guess I am like all of you. If it is out of sight, it is out of mind. I noticed that my husbands ice cream cake from his birthday in November is still outside in my freezer! I had forgotten all about it. And now it is freezer burnt, so I will throw it away! If it had been in the freezer inside, I am sure it would be gone by now...wait, maybe it would have been melted when the refrigerator went out two weeks ago! So my best defense is to put tempting things where everyone else can see them and not me. I also buy things in single servings like the 100 calorie snack packs and count the points when I feel the real need for a cookie or snack.
Bowedawg...hope your sister is feeling better. Maintaining is better than gaining anytime! With eating out two meals, you have done awesome!
Welcome to all the newbies....keep on posting.

Well better scoot. I have some stuff to do before my guitar lessons! What a dweeb I am! LOL Have a great Wednesday.

Later...GeeChee

Had a great weigh-in last night. Down 3.8 lbs. from 2 weeks ago. I've lost a total of 24.4 lbs. now and reached my 10% goal. I'm thrilled and to celebrate I'm gonna feast on my favorite rabbit food...baby carrots!

And hi, Gee, thanks for the welcome!

Hey Y'all..

Got to tell y'all that I rocked last night at my guitar lesson! I rarely do that well when I have play for my guitar teacher, but I have got to tell you that I played great! A real surprise since I have not spent that much time practicing the last few days! So on the bigger and better things! LOL Ok, I know what you are all thinking...what is a mother of three almost grown children taking guitar lessons for? Well I woke up one day and thought about the things that I would like to do before I leave this earth and playing the guitar was one of them...and I thought...well you are 40+ years old, so it is now or never and I chose now! So with my daughter, we started taking lessons three+years ago. She left for college in the fall, and I am still taking them! Now what I am going to do with this new found skill, I have not idea, but what the heck, I enjoy it so I am doing it.
Now, I have to confess, that for the last week, I have not been doing great on tracking points. So my goal for the next week is to write it all now. So I have a new journal and I am going to stick to it for the next seven days. That is the promise to myself and all of you!
Maggie...what a great loss. I am doing the happy dance for you!
Jeanne....no candy in this house for valentine's day. I got a nice pot of red tulips that I am enjoying..and there are no calories in that! LOL Have a great day at work.
Well, off to run errands. Hope you all have a great day! The sun is shining and it is 70 degrees on the coast with a calm ocean outside my door! I have a yearning for some sand between my toes, so I am sure a walk is in my future! LOL Have a great day everyone!

Red face

Well ladies, I kindof fell down on my whole "avoid temptation" thing. Yesterday was snack day at the office and I brought a nice, healthy, FF bean dip and chips (12 for 1 pt!) I was the ONLY person who brought anything nice, healthy or Fat Free! This wouldn't be a big surprize, except there are 10 women in this office I know are "trying" to lose weight! At least several thanked me for the effort and two asked for the recipe.

Anyway, first I ate a bit of my bean dip and a no-bake cookie. I love no bake cookies. Then I ate a tiny piece of banana nut bread, a tiny bite of a frosted brownie thing and practically transparent slice of lemon cake and another no-bake cookie. Then I ate a regular brownie and another tiny piece of banana nut bread. (By then the no-bake cookies were gone.) Then I went home for lunch and barely had time to scarf down a tortilla with a scrambled egg and turkey sausage before I had to run back to the office.

THEN I ate two more brownies, a regular slice of lemon cake and a regular sized piece of banana bread.

Then I went home, where I had a nice healthy tuna wrap (6 pts). Then I had a slice of chocolate oreo cake (WW - 4 pts). Then I had another! Then I had two reduced fat oreos - dipped in FF cool-whip!

By then I was sick from sweets and ate another sandwich - chicken this time - to make my stomach stop churning.

Let me say - I NEVER binge! NEVER! I have no idea why I ate so darn many sweets! I'm blaming PMS, the disapointing WI and a generally poopy mood. At least I didn't hide it...I told my DH ever bite that went in my mouth.

On the up side, I'm tired of sweets and not particularly looking forward to eating them again. I have been perfectly OP today and doing fine. ~And I have a week until WI again. Also, possibly due to guilt over the pig-out, I got DH to go to Sears last night and we spent a lot of $$$ on a new eliptical exercise machine thing. We pick it up the 21st. So now I have equiptment to exercise on at home and hopefully will break this darn plateau!

Well, late and must run. Have a good evening ladies!

Hmmmm....pretty quiet around here. Where is everybody? Saskube, Nurseinc, DNR, Maggie, Jeannie, come out and play! LOL

Lilion........I sat and laughed as I read your description of your day with the treats. I loved that despite all of that, you managed to squeeze in the few healthy choices! And the fact that you are back on track is just awesome! I am doing some of that myself today. We went out last night and I had fried fish and chips...something I do not usually do. And on top of that I had a beer which is something I do not do on a regular basis. So I am sure that I went well over points yesterday so I am trying to get back on track today with a low point day. I am not really even sure how to count all the points and not know if I really want to try. , but will try to write it all down and be accountable for what went in my mouth. So congratulations to both of us for getting right back on track!
It is chilly here this morning and we are expecting either ice or rain later. I am hoping for rain! Am glad I don't really have anywhere to be today except in my laundry room doing laundry. Sounds exciting, doesn't it!

Well have a great weekend everyone. Hope to hear from more of you later!
