Default 12 Week Challenge Wk # 4 (7/9-15) Really

Whoa! WEEK # 4 AMAZING!

Hey there Challengettes. Anyone clueless about this thread check out any of the prior 12 Week Challenges... and then join the fun!

How's everyone doing? Share the good news and the "not so". Can you believe this makes it 4 weeks? That's a third of the way through! You guys are awesome. Share what's kept and keeping ya going. I could use the inspiration to get through this weekend.

What kept me going??? You guys. Your support and sharing of your days and week really kept me focused on how "worth it" this is. And it didn't hurt that a very tight skirt has started to fit again.

Mon. July 16th - I'm really jazzed, I LOST 2 LBS. And am back within (just) the 2lb goal range. And you gals are responsible. You're own personal tracking and support of me and the others really kept me focused and on program.

Here's the week

M - 20 1/2 (banked 4 1/2)
T - 25 1/2 (used 1/2 of banked pt)
W - 23 (banked 2)
T - 20 (banked 5)
F - 22 1/2 (banked 2 1/2)
Sa - 25 (that's a first in a VERY long time - bnked 1)
Su - 33 1/2 ( 33 1/2 - 9 banked pts = 24.5)

I've started walking again but not enough to really count it as an activity (yet).

can't wait to see you guys checking in... Patch

Patch--You're doing wonderfully. And soooooo close to goal--Can't you taste, um I mean feel it?

Although I try to eat my exercise points only in the day I earned them, it doesn't always happen. However, this week was better than last. On my home scale, I'm still 3 pounds above goal weight (-1 1/2 pound for week), so I won't be weighing in officially til the end of the month.

Range: 20-25

Sat--31 eatten, 6 exercise points
Sun--39, 8
Mon--33, 6
Tues--27, 6
Wed--19, 4
Thur--24, 5
Fri--26, 3

Total banked food and exercise--14

Lesson for the week: Don't buy trigger foods, unless I'm totally over them as a trigger. Even though I'm better with trigger foods (I count out portions and don't eat the whole box in just a day), they still add a few too many points for each day I eat them.

UPDATE: I DID weigh in today and was down 2.6 pounds for the last two weeks!!!! SO, I didn't have to pay.

Congrats Rec on your achievement!!

Just out of curiosity, what are your trigger foods. I'm a potato chip lover. Can't be near them.

I found Pirate's Booty at my StopNShop. I've heard so much about them and "only" 3 points or so per small portion. But I lifted that nice big bag and said, "I don't think so." I knew I would just keep having 3 points servings until they were gone...

Thanks, LM! I go by Sommerville all the time. 206N to 287N to visit my sister and parents in Morris county. Yea for composting! I have two composters in my back yard and it's really helped my garden. Sweetie tried worms, but being in an apt, that didn't work out too well.

My biggest trigger foods are chocolate, cookies (Pepperage Farms, esp.) and ice cream. Lately, it's been Miss Meringue cookies and Pirate's Bootie. I'd be OK if I stop at a serving or two, and I AM doing better than before WW, but they still get me going!

You were pretty smart to not do the Pirate Bootie thing, if you didn't trust yourself. They are very good and I could finish a whole bag (10 points, I believe) within a day. Not as bad as Pepperage Farm cookies, but still!

BTW, do you know anything about harvesting and keeping spagetti squash? If so, I'll send you a PM. This is the first year I'm growing it and have no idea about when to pick it, how to cure it, etc.

Hey there REC and LM -

Congrats REC on your loss! And thanks for the boost. I weigh-in tomorrow and am really trying to get through today without going overboard.

Trigger foods can get me too. Ice cream for me is also a biggie. When I was single I just didn't have it in the house (apt) but now married and with a hubby who is not (yet) on program, ice cream for him and his son are "de regeur" sp? . Up until a month ago I had pretty much given up and in and - yep - the lbs started piling. Of course the ice cream wasn't the only culprit. Chips, bugles, any salty or chocolatey munchies really do me in.

But I got to thinking I need to find an OP substitute. Since the habit of having a sweet to end the evening became important. Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches - only 2 points each -and hagen daz frozen choc sorbet pops - only 1 pt each - (like fudgecicles) help me out. Also re the Pirate's Booty - I really should figure it out myself, but my WW leader said the whole bag was only 8 points. And there are some days (usually Sunday) that I do just that!

Have fun with the composting.

I'm almost through Sunday, with a bridal shower this afternoon. Wish me luck and fortitude.

Hi gal-pals,

Well, I had a complete day of trigger foods and they triggered and I lost total control. Fortunately, I feel so crappy now, that I'm not tempted to do it again anytime soon. All outside food. I have to stay home more!! LOL.

Hey, did I mention that I just discovered Healthy Choice Chocolate Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream, 2 points per 1/2 cup, which is really a sufficiency - it is quite rich. It does come in 1/2 gallon containers only (at least at my StopNGlop), but for some reason I can control that. But the chips...(well just see my journal for today, Sunday - OY VEY).

REC - no I don't know about spaghetti squash. I'm quite unsuccessful in growing any kind of squash. But I bet Lalala can give you tips.

patch hope you showed more fortitude at your social event today than I did at mine. Or at least really enjoyed yourself more!!!

Talk to you all later.

L.

This is my first week with my new 12-week journal but I don't mind being out of sync if you don't.

This was not a stellar week food-wise but I did OK with exercise. I will not weigh-in officially til this coming Saturday (21st) so I have a few days yet.

Points Range 20 - 25

Sun - 24 / activity - 4
Mon - 23.5 / 0
Tues - 50(?)/ 3
Wed - 23 / 4
Thurs - 30 / 13(!)(30-min run and 3-hr canoe trip)
Fri - 19 / 0
Sat - 44 / 3

Looking at total points for the week, I'm over by 11.5 and that's not nearly as bad as looking at that 50-point day in isolation. (That was a chocolate craving that got way out of hand)

Here's hoping that posting these numbers for all to see will somehow get me back on track.

Patch, you are doing great.

I'm pretty pleased with my week. It has helped that I've managed to stay away from restaurants. Hopefully I can keep this up. I'll let you know Wed. nite what this equates to on the scale.

Monday 25
Tuesday 21
Wednesday 24
Thursday 23
Friday 23
Saturday 22
Sunday 24

My range is 20-25, so I stayed right on target all week.

It absolutely will Seesaw - it's great to have you. Just remember there are 8 more weeks of this Challenge - that's two full month's worth of focus and support!

Myra - great week! Congrats and much luck with Wed.'s weigh-in.

LM - It really helped me to reread all the support you and all the other gals have been giving me - to KNOW I just couldn't blow it at the shower. It was as if you and the gals were right there with me. The gods were also smiling on me and had the hostess serve steamed veggies with a dip on the side and fresh fruit. She didn't serve the dessert til the end and by then I had filled up on low point stuff. But let's face it, I went out with my DH afterwards and really enjoyed myself (22 1/2 pts worth for dinner)

While I don't want to make any promises to myself, I do know that keeping this journal for the past month has really focused me on what I'm doing and not doing. I'm weighing in during lunch today (Monday) and will post on Mon or Tuesday Thread the "results". - Patch -

Angry Can I Play too????

I'm a WW lifetimer and I'd love to join in on your 12-week challenge, If I may????

It's just so amazing that I looked into my journel this AM and I'm just about to begin week 5 in it!!! That's got to be a sign that I"m supposed to be on this wagon with all of you!

I sure could use the support and accountability! I'm starting to get VERY sloppy in my journeling and losing some motivation, thus I'm also gaining some weight this summer and I don't want to do that!!!!

Plus, my mother just suffered a major stroke and is doing rehab. I know that I need to monitor my eating/exercise for the rest of my life so that I don't follow down the same path as her! Heredity sucks!!!

Thanks for letting me join in! Hope to be a help if I might!

Nancy,
Welcome! I hope your mom is doing OK. I know a stroke can be devastating. I lost a grandmother to a stroke.

I hope that this challenge can help motivate you to stay at goal weight. I wish I had something like this before I regained my weight. I am a lifetimer since 1991. I maintained my weight for about seven years but regained it and now am working to get back to goal.

Welcome Nancy -

We'd all love to have you join in. It really helps us all.

Since you've just finished your Week 4 why not post it here? Rememer we all have off days, weeks and months. For me it lasted the past 6 months. And believe me we all go over on points (just look at Sunday dinner for me)

See if there's something you'd like to focus on for just this next week or two. What would motivate you? What could you give yourself as a reward? When you're going through this tough time with your mom, you need to remember to take care of you.

week 4: (exercise points deducted)

W: 22
Th: 24
F: 24.5
Sa:26
Sun: 47.5
M: 21
Tu: 23
average points/day:
with exercise: 27
not counting exercise: 29

home weigh in - either lost a pound or stayed the same (my scale is not super accurate, but close enough). My goal was to maintain, so I am gratified. I'm trying to get more points in but still maintain, so I'm wondering where I'll tip the balance.
