Default setting up for a successful week

I just wanted to share my accomplishments for today! I have been so discouraged, gaining weight back after finally getting to lifetime, etc.
I got on this site and Dottis and got ideas for menus, made a plan for the entire week, and went to the store with a LIST!
This morning, I grilled six of the 95% lean burgers, put them in 1 point buns and bagged them individually. Then cut lean sirloin steak into 4 ounce portions and grilled it. And grilled the whole bag of chicken breasts. Packaged everything up individually. Then I made two casseroles of spaghetti pie with lean ground beef, tomato sauce, and some seasoning. It turned out to be 8 points per serving. And then made a recipe for Salsa Meatloaf from the WW cookbook, (Simply the Best is the title) and a recipe of Dottis macroni tuna salad for lunch at work tomorrow and Wed.
Just finished all the dishes, and I'm really tired, but set for a couple of weeks for lunches at work, and dinners when we all come home tired and hungry.
Went out on the deck and had a Root Beer Float for 2 points, I think I can do this!

Barb,
Sounds like you are in for a very successful couple of weeks. You know the saying "If you fail to plan you plan to fail" That is not you! Let us know how it works out for you.

It is making a difference! It is also saving me a ton of money at work. Yesterday I took my lunch, it was really easy because it was all prepared, and I just had to throw things into a bag. Sometimes I really blow it at lunch, because I go down to the cafeteria not knowing ahead what I'm going to eat.
Last night we all came home tired but supper was no problem, it was in the refrigerator and just had to be put in the oven. I hope I can keep this up. I know, for me, the planning really helps.

The wonder lite hamburger buns are one point, and schnucks has a brand that is the same.

Skinnybarb, thanks for the bun brand names. We don't have Schnucks, but I'll see about Wonder Lite.

Merita (spelling could be off) makes light whole wheat hamburger and hotdog buns that are only one point. I buy mine at our local Walmart Superstore (the only place in town that sells them - I usually buy 3 packages of each and freeze the ones I am not using).

I like chili cheese dogs and those buns save me a bunch of points (along with the 1 point healthy choice hot dogs).

Another thing we do at home (my husbands idea - can you believe that!?!). When we are having spagetti we take a 1 point hot dog bun and separate the two sides and make garlic bread sticks out of them. Yummy!

Itsanewyear,
I can't believe you came up with the idea of garlic bread using 1 point hot dog buns! That is ingenious. What a great idea. Thanks for sharing. I am definitely going to do that. We have the Wonder Lite buns around here, but they are hard to come by. I think dieters glom them and freeze them, but I am going to keep my eyes open.
Skinnybarb,
You are doing the best thing for yourself. Planning ahead will do it every time. I know it takes an effort to cook so much for yourself ahead of time, but it pays off big time. Good luck and continued success.
