I am very inspired by everyone's great weight loss...my question is what worked for you? Did you try a special program, did you have a moment that just clicked that this is it for you?
Currently, I have abandoned soda for water, have pretty much eliminated sweets and misc. crap (can't desire it if I don't eat it, don't have it) and have cut down on my carbs....no real etched in stone plan, but trying to eat more protiens, more produce, keep my wits about me, be aware of what I'm eating. It's not that I refuse to have chocolate, just not 3 cookies from subway daily...I lost 60 lbs once apon a time. I did it by doing WW at home, and not really paying attention. I knew it would work, but I wasn't obsessive as I am now.
I want to be a success story...artists will copy the works of the masters to perfect thier own skills, even if thier approach is different. With that, I want to gleen from all of you what made you do it, what made it work, what did you do?
Hmm, im not actually on a "program" but because of what i was diagnosed with i need to be on a diabetic type diet... so lower sugar & carb intake. But i still dont exclude anything from my diet!, if i want something, ill have it! moderation is SO important! its all working for me (oh for my meals, i eat what im craving... i cant make out my meals for the days ahead, NEVER works for me lol)
~~daily food log
~~counting caloires
~~having one meal a week to eat what I want or have been craving
~~daily exercise
~~SUPPORT in the form of message boards and my mom
portion control and good old exercise has worked the best for me. i don't do well with counting things (i.e. calories, points, carbs) because i get somewhat obsessive so i try to just eat reasonably and as balanced as possible and exercise (cardio plus weight training) about 4-6 times a week.
- calorie counting (using fitday)
- busting a move kickboxing
- cycling
- running
- eating LOTS of protien
- illiminating "fast food"
- eating salad when we go out for dinner
- weightlifting

I started out slowly last January, with my only goals being to eat 5 servings of fruits/veggies every day and walking 10,000 steps every day (I wore a pedometer). I was amazed that with just those 2 small changes the weight started coming off, so I slowly started making more changes. I now eat a low fat/high fiber diet with LOTS of fruits/veggies, almost no junk food (I very rarely even want it anymore, and when I do I can have a little bit), and between 40 and 90 minutes of exercise daily. I've lost over 100 pounds since mid-January and I haven't been hungry because I eat a lot of food, I just eat the right things now. Sometimes I still have days when I would love to just dig into sugary junk, but I have been able to control it with fruit to curb my sweet tooth and knowing how rotten I feel whenever I eat junk is a deterrent as well.
I know I haven't lost as much weight as some of the other ladies but I've been successful in what I have lost by eating way more fruits and veggies, drinking plenty of water, watching my serving sizes (especially when it comes to cereal) and exercise. I don't count calories but I am a lot more aware of what goes into my mouth and I do read labels.
