Default is there a chance i'm doing too much?

Is there a possibility I could be doing too much exercise and its preventing me from losing weight? especially if I'm not fuelling my body properly?

For the past 8 weeks i've been running 30mpw averaging 5-6miles per day.

I have recently switched to cycling (i find cycling much easier. I swopped to running for a while for a change but injured my thigh so went back to what i'm better at! !!!) I am doing 12.5-14miles on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then 18.5-25miles on friday, saturday and sunday.

Your body gets used to doing whatever routine you put it to so changing things up would be a good thing. Have you thought about adding weight training to strengthen your muscles? Add other cross-training options like swimming, walking, yoga etc to round out your routine. And definitely eat after your workouts to help repair muscle breakdown and continue to burn fat. Good luck!

I really don't think you are doing too much ... but I do agree with Lizz that you should add some weight training and cross training.... Maybe interval training would be good too...

Hmm, i guess it would be impossible to actually exercise too much in this day and age. How long would you reccommend for a weights session and is it ok if i did free weights in my bedroom?!

I do free weights at home! It means I can wear as little as I want and I don't have to pay a crummy gym membership just to throw some heavy bits of metal around!

For a routine I found www.stumptuous.com (click on iron) the greatest! She has workouts and all sorts of great advice! I tend to spend about 30 mins on weights, but it can vary, I'm sure the hardcore ladies who lift maybe do more!

If you have more questions about weights, head over the Ladies Who Lift forum, there's always plenty of people willing to answer them!
