Default New to the Board, and looking for a buddy

I looked in the mirror this morning and I noticed that that thin face I'd managed to pride myself on, when all of the rest of me was growing and growing, is gone. It's encased in a big layer of fat, and framed by a big ol' double chin that seems to be eating my neck as well.

I'm Ladyloo. I followed a link from a friend's page, and I would love to hook up with a buddy. I need a bit more accountability. I had hoped to start going to Weight Watchers meetings (again), but I live on the Mississippi Coast, and all of the meetings have been cancelled within 50 miles of me.

As you can see below I'm just starting, or re-starting, or however you want to look at it, and I have a long, long way to go to lost this weight. I was almost ready to put it off until the beginning of the new year, what with the holidays coming up, but I figure even if I can just work at maintaining my current weight through the holidays, I'll consider myself a little more in control.

Welcome Lady! I hope you will find the support & motivation you need on this board (I know I have!) You should set some smaller goals for yourself so that way you won't get overwhelmed ... I know I had to do that just recently ... when the end seems too far away, it's hard to stay motivated! Anyway, welcome honey!

Hi Lady

Welcome. I agree that mini-goals are an excellent idea! Getting through the holidays without gaining is a great goal! But you could also look at the holidays as a challenge -- just think how good you'd feel if you lost weight IN SPITE of the holidays!!

Welcome to the boards. This is a great place. I agree maintaining your weight through the holidays is a great idea. Also, mini goals are better to set then looking at the bigger picture. I find if I look at losing 20 pounds versus having to lose 75 over is a better feeling to me. I am less likely to get frustrated. I didn't say I don't get frustrated, but I feel I can acheive a 15 lb loss better then a 40, 50 or 60 lb loss. Helps keep me on course. Also, keeping a journal is a good way to hold yourself accountable. You can see what you are putting into your mouth and keep track of exercising. Or just to write down how you are feeling at the time. I think you will do great. Good luck.

Hi
I'm new here too and desperately seeking motivation and inspiration!
I've had a good body image in my head even when it hasn't been so good on the outside but now it's getting beyond a joke and I really worry that I won't be around to see my boys make their way in the world and, if I am, I don't want to be a drain on them either. I enjoy healthy stuff - both food and exercise- I just eat too much, eat when I'm stressed and eat when I'm tired and just lately I'm doing all three!
I've got a lot of weight to lose, is it easier to break it down into mini goals?
Thanks for listening

I personally find it easier to have mini goals. I am one that tends to get frustrated easily. I have a mini goal of losing 20 lbs by Christmas. It's easier to then seeing I need to lose 75 more lbs when do I want to reach it. I honestly don't know how long but a mini goal is more attainable to me then the 75 lbs. Welcome and good luck on your weight loss.

Thank you!
I see Halloween as my last chocolate stop before Christmas so hopefully I'll be able to make headway losing before then. I've decided to try to lose 14lbs before Christmas as my first mini goal. Once I get there I'll set another one prior to my birthday in March - see positive thinking already!
