Default TGIF - Friday Chat, October 29

Good morning, Beachers! Lucy and Hershey are back into woofing me awake these mornings but it is getting a bit later. When the time changes this weekend, I hope Ralph's work hours do too.

My flu shot reaction is nearly over, I hope. I need to work a charity Bingo for the Fair Board this morning and just NEED to be better. It starts at 11 with prep and ends around 4 when we count cash and close so it kind of shoots the day. I am hoping to pop into Wal-Mart for some sewing supplies before I come home to feed my furries. I'm crossing my fingers about leaving them alone so long but know they'll be OK because they are such good girls.

When I get home, I need to make a huge pan of scalloped potatoes for a luncheon meeting tomorrow and a cake for yet another meeting on Sunday - all Fair Board related. Too bad they know I cook.

Coffee is needed and then I'll be back. What's happening on your stretch of the Beach?

Good morning Ladies!

Hi Ruth!- Glad to hear your flu shot reaction is subsiding. Boy! You are a busy woman.

As for me: I took step aerobics last night and that "put together woman" was the teacher again. She really works you out hard. I am going to make Tuesday and Thursday step aerobics a regular thing. I always get this feeling of wanting to run out before the class starts. But, I stay and feel better about myself when I finish!

Eating could be better. I don't think that I ate enough yesterday. Water is in need of definite improvement.

Gotta go get ready for work. Thank Goodness it is Friday!! I am so ready for this week to be over! I hope everyone has a good day!

Good morning, Chicklets~~

Breakfast is eaten and I just need my shower and to get dressed. It's cold out and all the fur babies are huddled up here with me.

The only drama in my household right now is that DD got laid off from her job. She'd been there 7 years but wasn't very happy after they promoted a big-breasted flirt without a brain instead of her. So, even though she's unhappy about being kicked to the curb, she knows it's for the best.

Ruth, I don't know how you do all you do. You have more energy. Did you get to visit with Harry yesterday? Did Lucy enjoy the trip?

Dana, good for you for sticking with the aerobics. I wish I could do them, but the osteo knees say "we don't like that--we like walking better!"

Well, gotta get myself moving. You all have a great day on the Beach!

Smile Chilly Morning All!

Oh, it's chilly here again, what else did I expect???? It's only 34º and I know it's going to get worse as we go along. I HATE being cold. I'm sitting here in my sweats and my quillow over my feet and all tucked around me.

Supper last night was good. I did go with the clams, and a bowl of soup. I also had a nice piece of something called Dumpling squash, baked and dusted with cinnamon. It was really good, had never had it before and am glad I chose that over potato and coleslaw. Didn't eat the roll, and it looked like a nice one!

We borrowed a cat carrier from a friend, I have one and didn't want to buy another just yet. She scrubbed it all up with disinfectant, and I'll do the same before I bring it back to her. Today's the day! I'm really quite excited, I get my furbabies today. I looked at their pictures again this morning, and was thinking, "won't be long and you'll be mine!" I sure hope that I haven't made a mistake, it's my feeling that because the male is friendly, the female will get over her fright quicker. Poor baby! She looks so scared.
I've cat proofed my house the best I could, but expect they'll see things I never thought of. At least I remembered to pick up my yarn. Can just see two cats and a ball of yarn, all over the house.

Well, breakfast looms, then we're off. It will take a trip of a little more than an hour to get there. I don't think I'm inclined to stop on the way back home for lunch, will just come home and eat here. Wouldn't want to leave them alone in a car just yet, even being contained. See you tomorrow........GrannySmith

Hi all... I am off work today and it feels g ood.... I am winding down my career at Kodak and hope to retire in a year, its a big step for me after 33 yrs, scary... The sky is clear for a change here in WNY... going for a nice brisk walk with Jack later ( yorkie) he gives me a great work-out even if he is only 5lb....I am doing considerably better on the beach but found some choc chips last night.... dang it.. ate several handfuls.... It is difficult for me, living with my daughter, I cook and my daughter buys treats for the kids, makes it doubly hard for me not to give into temptation.....
Ruth I am having my flu shot on tuesday, I hope I dont have a reaction, I did have a reaction, but just once, the shot site usually gets swollen and sore for a few days, last year I didnt get one because of the shortage, so we shall see what happens

I have been reading the posts all week, s ounds like everyone is doing great, I am hoping for a weight loss on monday..... we are just w eighing in and not having a meeting (Tops)so everyone can be home to answer the door ect...

Well before this turns in to a book, have a g reat day fellow Beach Chicks.... take care, India

Good Morning Good Morning ... Happy Friday ...

Ruth - My Herschel (choc lab) is passed his barking phase (WOOHOO) - so we're having a shnoogley morning on this perfect fall day

Dana - You are amazing with your motivation - I need to really "Catch" that exercise bug I was planning on hiking this weekend - but Halloween has come upon us too quickly and there's too much left to do - My office goes crazy and we plan elaborate decorations for our employees kids... We'll be working on Sunday to put it all together - It's gonna be AMAZING this year

GrannySmith - Good luck with the kittens! I have definately had some fun experience with cat carriers - Mine don't like it I had one cat that went to school with me in Ohio - He absolutely refused to stay in the carrier and would sit on my shoulder as I drove from NJ to OH - definately made all the truckers do a double take

To All you other beach babes - Good Luck with the SUGAR Extravaganza that's around the corner - Hope you all SURVIVE!!!

- Penny

Schatzi - Your display is really neat!

Ruth and India - I always get a sore arm from a flu shot but I don't normally get achy or anything. DH won't get the shot since he says it makes him sick but I always get it except for last year when I couldn't. I had a really bad case of the flu last year and am just waiting until they give the shot at work here.

djett - Your step class sounds like fun. My gym only has advanced step at a time when I can get to it and I can't manage advanced. I DO plan to make it to Powerflex tomorrow. I haven't been to the gym in weeks and I'm missing it.

mama - good luck on your daughter getting a better job than she had. I've got my fingers crossed for her.

Grannysmith - The kitties will probably settle in with time. You never know what you have to catproof. Every cat has different bad habits. I've been gradually having to get rid of my miniblinds since I've had several that liked to chew the cords connecting each blind. I have one now that chews on this piece of plastic so we keep it dusted with cayenne pepper.

Happy Friday, Penny and all those yet to post!

me - Our family has a potluck to go to tonight for Brian's religious ed. class. I'm fixing my ww penne pasta dish with zucchini and asparagus and ham and a cream sauce made from low fat evap milk. Now as long as I can be careful with everything else that is there...

Morning everyone. It's been a busy week for me, but that seems to be never ending around here. Last night had my 16yo DS homecoming football game (he's a lineman) til 10:00 pm, poor 4yo DD had a rough time holding out for the end. Cooked pasta for the pregame team dinner yesterday (100 hungry boys!) and did not eat a smidgen of it - hooray for me. Today will open the door to my 7 day care kids any minute now - and we'll spend the day exploring the insides of pumpkins, counting seeds, dressing up and baking pumpkin muffins. Tonight gotta go to 11yo DS scout pack meeting then at 9 pm cooking dinner and feeding group of homeless men at local church shelter with my kids. Tomorrow is the homecoming dance so will be picking up DS tux tonight too and making sure all is set for the big night.

When things are busy like this I actually feel like staying on the Beach is easier, no time to eat really so not much cheating likely. Since fitday continues to tell me I'm only eating around 800 calories I am really going to work on that today, try to get that up over 1000 so my metabolism can get going (although I'm just not convinced mine exists any more!!!)

Goals today are to eat more veggies (not a big strength of mine) more snacks and more water.

Theres the doorbell, time for fun.

Morning all....I weight in today...back down to 215.5 (hurray!) I know my ticker says 212...but I gained some weight & I REFUSED to change it back! I guess the caramel high rise did completely kill my weight loss for the week! I have been doing 1 hour of exercise....that helps! Today I plan on cooking...at work we are changing the store from Halloween to Christmas & we are working overnight to do it. I am in charge of the food (I'm like Ruth...known for my cooking!) SO...I'm going to be in the kitchen today with lots of food - help!
Ruth - I'm so glad you are feeling better....have fun at Bingo!
Dana - You are a rockstar....I would never do those classes...too embarassed!
Mamacita - Your dd will find another job...she's really better off. It's just a challenge to better herself!
Schatzi - your display is divine! Very festive & fun!!
Barb - enjoy yourself at the potluck!
Granny - hope the kids adjust well!
Pcr & India - hello
Kye - Have fun at the game!
mom - you sound sooooo busy! Have fun....I'm sure the ds will look sharp in his tux!

Have a great OP day!

Hi!

I wanted to pop in and say hi. I have been meaning to. It's great to see everyone is still around and there are new people too! Schatzi's fall design was really cool! I still have flowers alive in front, but they are scraggly and my lawn hasn't been mowed in 3 weeks. It never stops raining so I can! My yard looks as wild as the inside of my mind!

I have been dieting since I last wrote and lost 10 more pounds. I have all this new clothing because old stuff now fits!

Happy weekend to all!!!!!

Stay warm!

Soon2BFab- Thanks! But, what I don't admit is that every time that I stand in there waiting for class to start I feel like running out the door. I dread it. I know I will enjoy it, but the anticipation.... Now, as far as the embarassment is concerned. I felt that a bit at first. I really don't like watching myself in the mirrors. But, as I look around the class, everyone is in their own zone and missing steps just like me. If you have an opportunity to do a class. I say go for it! Sometimes, you can surprise yourself by doing something new!
