Default Lexapro

I went searching for a thread on this but couldn't find anything. I just started taking Lexapro last week. I had gotten it through a health service offered through my school. When I asked questions abotu the side-effects of this medicine I was told that they were minial and that I just mgiht have trouble with nausea or sleeping. So I started.
Only recently did I fidn out the Lexapro may cause weight changes. I've lsot the thirty pounds I wanted to lose so desperately, but now I'm afraid that this medicine will make me gain weight.
Has anyone taken Lexapro in the past. What were your reactions to it? when did you start noticing the weight gain? Does it make you hungrier? Or does it cause yout o retain water more. I 'm not scheduled to see the doctor again until the 20th and I have so many questions now.
Any information will be welcomed.

I was on the Lexapro at one point and I didn't really notice any side effects. It did make me a little tired for about the first week but as soon as my body got used to it that went away. Actually I started eating a little less because I wasn't emotional eating as badly. Also I had a girl I was working with who was on it and she did really well it. It tends to be an individual thing tho. It works well with few or no side effects for some and others have problems. But that is with any medicine. You should give it a fair chance and see how it works for you.

I gained 25 pounds in 2 months. Didn't change my eating habits. I was still eating relatively healthy. I weened myself off of the lexapro and still haven't lost the weight. I think it really slowed my metabolism.
HTH!

I went off lexapro just last week, I had started it last spring and gained 21 lbs. I was always ravenous. I also had a dry scaly rash near my mouth, I'm not entirely sure it was from the lexapro. My doc says most don't gain on lexapro but there's always the exception! So he put me bac on prozac & added topamax. so far, so good.
