Default Katrina Crisis

Well this is nothing compared to what is going on in LA with Katrina, but the supplier of gas her to parts of NC has been stopped. The gas stations priced gas at $2.59 on Monday, by Tuesday it was 2.79 a gallon by Wednesday it was 2.99 a gallon and by Wednesday night it was $3.50 a gallon. The supply has been cut off, gas stations have run out of gas and it maybe over a week before a supply of gas to NC will be delievered. Gas stations shut down last night by 7pm to save what little gas they had left. This should be interesting to see how the city of Charlotte and the surrounding area reacts to this problem of no gas supply.

I know this is nothing compared to what others have been through and what they are going through and we will definatley keep everyone in our thoughts and prayers. It goes to show you what you have today, you need to appreciate because you never know what could happen tomorrow. I feel for those people that I constantly see on the news and if there is any way any of you can help by donating to local charties to help these people, the people who are in worse situations than we could ever imagine, then please do and definately keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers!

How is Katrina affecting where you live?

Laurie:

Wow - I can see now there is definitely going to be a ripple effect to Katrina. Now it's affecting you folks in NC. I do feel grateful for what I have right this moment and realize it could all be gone in an instant. Thanks for sharing what's going on in your part of the country.

Default Wowser

Laurie, WOW! Do you have access to gas yet? How come we do not hear of any of that on the news..that gas stations were out of gas and shut down??? Here, gas is right around 2.98-3.15 a gallon. Again..no comparison to what LA is experiencing...our church is taking up donations for relief and I will be giving thru that..just in need of so much money, prayers, and support!!
Saddened...Becky

Yes the gas stations are finally filling back up with the gas but the prices are about $3.49 a gallon.

Yes Nikki this is so very tiny compared to what is going on there but still Katrina has affected everyone, just in different ways.

I ditto what Nikki has said...it is just amazing what is going on down here. BUT some of the things you are not hearing is how much we have rallied to help our folks that have lost everything...the stories I have been told from volunteers, makes me cry everytime. It is truly amazing. A lady in my office helped a woman whose cell phone got wet and couldn't pull up her son's ph number. She set up an account on line with her cell ph service carrier and they found his number on her statement where she had called him the previous month. I mean stories that just give you chills. Please just keep these folks in your prayers...it is so easy to forget unless you are living it.
